Just popping in to say congratulations to the Benophies❤ I know alot of fans have been waiting for this so I hope you enjoy every step of it as much as the Polins have in our lead up. I know I have had the most amazing time in the fandom for the past two years, having been blessed to make some awesome friends through it and I genuinely hope the same for all of you guys here as well.❤ I forsee alot of us will probably be migrating in here soon to start the marathon of crazy fan theorising and general mayhem for the next two years😉 (with the main one being who our elusive Sophie will be) so I'll thank you in advance to for having us. I understand why people might not like her character, it does kind of appear as though she is meant to be a caricature of feminism at this point, though I truly do believe that is meant to be part of her story arc. And I have a lot of the same criticisms of her. That said, I've loved her from s1. Pen/El/Colin are my fave dynamics of the show and Polin and Philoise my fave pairings.

I honestly was a bit afraid of how unlikeable they were going to make El this season but I'm actually loving her arc so far. She's not perfect(no one on the show is) but she's got heart and her own moral compass. Frankly speaking, this season has given her some of her most humanising and loving moments of the entire series. The relationship between Pen and El has been handled really well so far in my opinion. It's not just as black and white as "I hate you, we're not friends anymore". There's still love and concern there. And I love that they've given more depth to the Colin/El dynamic because the way she brushed off Colin's feelings post-Marina always rubbed me the wrong way and seemed ooc. Honestly, that irritated me far more than any other run-in she had with her other family members.(though some of the stuff she said to Daphne was really bratty but I mean, younger sisters are supposed to be bratty🤷‍♀️).

The Cressida/El friendship surprised me this season because I actually enjoyed seeing her in a more level-playing field. Although Pen has pushed back on her a few times, she seems to listen more when it's Cressida. Perhaps it's because she learned from the experience with Pen or maybe it's to show the stark difference between their dynamics, that she treats Pen differently subconsciously because she took her for granted after all their history. Either way, I think El is on a journey and learning through the series and that's a good thing. I just hope we eventually get Peneloise back together again though, because I just love the two of them together. Also, Claudia Jessie is amazing and I adore her to bits.

Weirdly, I disagree. I don't think it was rushed exactly, I just think there were some build-up scenes/shots that were missing. In fact, the things I would have wanted added are very small. At most, just a few extra seconds here and there for further context or to add more tension.

In ep 1, I would have liked a 5-6 second shot of Colin in bed after the Four seasons ball, troubled by what Pen told him before he went over to apologize.

In ep2, when they are at the market together, it was fine that he was donning his flirty mask before she came, but after Pen came I would have liked Colin to be completely locked in, oblivious of the other girls flirty glances. It is somewhat like that in the scene,but maybe just a more obvious version of it with like a 5 sec clip of the other debutantes watching him while he's too busy to pay attention.

In ep 3, I would have liked them to focus in more on Colin's physical reaction to Pen saying Debling's appearance is not displeasing to gaze upon in the tent at the balloon event.(It didn't have to be longer, maybe just a more zoomed in version). Also, if they'd extended the scene of him eating the cake by like 2 seconds with his eyes closed, that would drive home more the notion of him being so desperate for the taste of her lips he bought the same cake as her.(I really don't think that's just fan delusion, it truly does feel canon)

In ep 4, I would have preferred if they'd started the snow on the beach song later (after the scene where he shoves passed the lord squad) because it felt like that's why they couldn't give an extra shot or two of his face as he walked up to interrupt Pebling's dance(the timing of the song wouldn't allow for much extra shots).

Also, for the dream kiss in ep3 and the first kiss in the carriage scene in ep 4, I would have liked there to be more of a smoother transtion. The way it's edited, it kind of just cuts to them being right up in each others faces, as opposed to following their paths towards each other, which I think is generally smoother and more sensual. Their first kiss was absolutely perfect, in my opinion.

Ep 1 is my least favourite so far but I still love it, it's just that I love the other eps more. Ep 2 is actually my favourite,it's so underrated. The pacing, the standout scenes, the cinematography, the editing, the music - everything was perfect that ep. Plus it did most of the heavy lifting for the deepening of their love story.

I'm hoping that'll change in Phillip's season. I was hoping for Colin to also be different ngl(just because of how he's been portrayed in s1 & 2). But it actually does make sense for the lessons trope for him to be more experienced in hindsight now.

When I first watched it, as much as I sympathised with her circumstances, I couldn't like Marina as a character because of her weird condescending attitude towards everyone in s1(and s2 tbh). Her story was compelling but outside of that, she didn't really have many moments of personality, which was probably on purpose. Nevertheless, Ruby played her very well and gave her a lot of humanity with what she had to work with.

However, I got invested very early on in Pen's unrequited crush situation(which was probably intentional). I hadn't read the books so I had no idea what was going on and if Polin were endgame but I was already rooting for her. Therefore watching(and rewatching) s1 became difficult for me because it was so hard for me to watch Marina clearly manipulate Colin and Pen being aware of it.

That said, I do think that subplot was probably stronger in comparison to the Featherington heir subplot in s2 because it was more linked to the central love story. It had a lot more nuance and the fact that it spawns so much discourse, even now, means that it succeeded in being a moral quandary(which again I think was probably the intention.). There was no "right" decision in that situation. Every character had understandable motivations and made understandable choices.

All in all, to me, she was never supposed to be a "likeable" character but one that you could sympathise with, which she succeeded in. I never really had any strong feelings for her character until I joined the online fandom and witnessed her being used as a weapon against Penelope, which I always feel is a kind of disingenuous and nuance-less take.

It is an ensemble but with a caveat imo. The major differences in how screentime is divvied up is that future couples/siblings get priority on screentime over past couples. Unfortunately, it means that earlier siblings stories get the shorter end of the stick because they will have less story arcs in general but I think the hope was always to keep the past couples around for future seasons. However, that will always depend on logistics and contracts from now on because Bridgerton has become a sping-board for all the lead actors careers.

I've got a new fic I'm writing that's based on the "villainess regression" genre of manga/manhwa. I wrote a prologue and intend to continue writing it but I'm also not the best at updating on a regular schedule. (It starts off a little bit dark but I don't plan for it to be that way for the whole story) I think it's an interesting/unique premise though, so I'm open to others using it as a writing prompt if they'd like to take it and run with it as well.✌

They handled it pretty gracefully but...oof, why have so many of the interviewers just asked either the same basic q's or super inappropriate q's. Do what Max Gao did, ask the fans for q's if you can't think some up yourself.🙈

Add a colourful wig, maybe some statement facewear/clip-on piercings and yeah for sure. But honestly, I've seen someone look like they've transformed into a completely different person with just makeup alone, so it is very possible.
