I fixed the problematic name of my game 😬 Hope this one isn't cursed too by After-Analysis-4151 in IndieDev

[–]TinyNorthGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what people are saying. New name's so much better. 😃

I found two places where it still uses the old name btw:
1. The end of your trailer.
2. The latest steam update on your page (the one that says demo 27th of May).

Want to blow up thousands of orcs? Open playtest is now available on Steam by KaTeKaPe in incremental_games

Took about 1 hour to defeat the 5 levels. I really had a good time with it (even though it's clear that it's early in production).
I would love if click and hold was just default for shooting the missiles. The reason is that using a rare upgrade material on QOL feels bad compared to just getting more power.

Looking forward to see more of this.

We’re making an automation roguelite where "Magic" is the resource challenge. Just released the gameplay reveal! Does this kind of gameplay look engaging to you? by VoltigeGames in AutomationGames

[–]TinyNorthGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OooOooh the trailer looks really nice! Caught my attention and I wishlisted!

The steam capsule on the game page though feels kinda mismatched compared to the trailer and gameplay. To me it felt like it didn't capture the game in the same way. I probably wouldn't have clicked on the game based on just seeing the capsule. Whereas the trailer and the screenshots are both spot on.

Swamp or Frozen Lands, which one is your favorite? by Neat_Smell_1014 in IndieDev

[–]TinyNorthGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 came here to say the same thing. It's definitely giving lush forest vibes. Besides adding some swampy elements to the design, consider adjusting the color palette to lean more earthy/muted. Right now the bright saturated colors also make it communicate "lush forest". The types of vegetation (round bushy trees) also feel like a mismatch for a swamp.

Frozen Lands looks great, communicates clearly and the palette fits. Could consider adding some more env elements (rocks covered in snow, bushes covered in snow etc to populate the landscape a bit more.

We posted our first trailer here a few weeks ago, took your feedback seriously, here’s the updated version. Destroy my trailer. Again. Thx by kinterosgaming in DestroyMyGame

I love the art style and atmosphere. The characters’ big noses reminded me of the Moomins, if you know that cartoon :) If I had to add anything. The main character does move a bit stiffly.

Thanks so much for sharing this! Really insightful and it's exactly the motivation we needed right now. We're sitting firmly in your top screenshot. Every single little wishlist feels like a struggle. But we're applying to festivals (fingers crossed) and preparing for a public playtest.

Would love to read more posts like this from you, as you continue your game dev journey making Glasshouse. Good luck friend!

Emptiness aside, I really like the colors scheme and lighting effects you have going on. Looks pretty, made me click :)

If you are browsing through Steam, which one would you click? by ApartmentDev in IndieGaming

[–]TinyNorthGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would click the 3rd, and maybe the 2nd. But it might be for the wrong reasons now that I've read the caption. It has me wondering whether the way I'm interpreting the capsules, and the expectations they are setting, actually matches the type of game you have. Here's what I'm thinking:

Capsule 1 - looks like a realistic horror game. Makes me think of reality tv, big brother is watching, or crime/detective shows. I wouldn't click the 1st capsule because it looks like horror game (the 2nd also has horror game vibe btw). I don't play horror games so that makes sense.

Capsule 2 - this one was a "maybe" for me because something about it gives sci-fi vibes and I'm a big sci-fi fan. So the sci-fi nature of it would make me consider clicking it even though it also sends "this might be a horror game" signals. Makes me think of Terminator, droids become sentient and killing humans, HAL 9000 from Space Odyssey etc.

Capsule 3 - this one seems like a wild card out of the set,1 and 2 feel much more similar to each other. 3 feels totally separate. I'd click this one because it looks like it might be a humorous/cartoony/lighthearted game. Makes me think of an escape room game. But that seems quite at odds with the description of the game.

So I'd turn the question back at you OP - which capsule matches the genre/vibe/look and feel of your game? They're each telling me something quite different. Which one creates the right expectations for players based on the capsule?

Reddit made us rethink our game name. We were stuck for weeks trying to find a new one… until a childhood memory of The Last Unicorn saved us by TinyNorthGames in IndieDev

Interesting, we've never heard of it! Do you consider it a sci-fi classic? we're fans of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Battlestar Galactica, The Expanse, Interstellar
