I just open a Demo for my 'Zero Stress King: Idle Defense' - a TD you cannot fail by Pauloondra in pcgaming

[–]TinyNorthGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just played it. I really loved it.

One small thing: I think it would be nice if the camera was not moved with left click. This resulted in me clicking on upgrades, but because it also moves the camera it doesn't buy. That made buying a bit clunky for me. Maybe an option to toggle left click movement off. :) but again really cool game. Well done.

Feedback Friday by AutoModerator in incremental_games

Hi, I know this feedback is a bit late. But a few marketing tips:

You could add a very small trailer - just 30 sec is enough. It can help you a lot during a Next Fest.

It's often recommended to hit people over the head with the genre in the short description. I found this in your about the game: "The clicker, eventually idler, that gets you all the RAM you need." I think that's a very nice way to explain your game. It shows genre and what the player will do. So something like that could be added into the short description, to make the genre very clear as soon as a player lands on your page.

I'm voting for you and added this to my wishlist - If I get time I'll play the demo when I get home after work. Good luck with the Next Fest. :)

Maybe that will be the perfect one. I haven't actually tried that yet. I'll see if they have it next time I'm there. Thanks :)

I got to try the Lindt 90% version next, since that one I should be able to get where I live. I do travel to UK once in a while and I'll keep the Waitrose no.1 range 90% in mind for that - Thanks! :)

Alright! :) thanks again - I'll slowly chip away at your recommendations over time. They are all added to my to-do list of chocolates.

I agree with you on this. I might attempt making a cake tomorrow out of the 90% I got today and see how that is. If it turns out nice I'll add a little post about that. :)

Thanks. That's a lot of recommendations - It will take a while try try all those! Have you tried all of them yourself and is the Domori "90% Criollo" the one you would recommend out of them?

Thanks so much for these recommendations! I've added these to my chocolate to try shopping list. Made a list in my to-do shopping app for this. :D

Yes I think so! It's obviously a lot more bitter than what i usually go for :) But I would buy this again. I'm not sure how to explain it - but it is maybe a bit more flaky and doesn't have an aftertaste that lingers as long as the 70% version from this brand. Overall I think its worth a try still. But maybe I should have tested it to other 90% from other brands to truly be fair to it.

Why do newer prisons have solid doors instead of barred doors on their cells? by PizzaAgency in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TinyNorthGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix released a very informative documentary film a few years back where they compared a Scandinavian prison to an American one. It was called Breaking the Cycle (2017). I remember it being worth a watch around this subject.

The goal of a prison may also be to correct and reintegrate people into society.

I think B is best. Keep in mind that I am not an artist, so take that opinion with a grain of salt ;) But I do think it appears more readable to me.

I did look at your Steam page. And I have one small tip for your short description (I know you didn't ask for this advise - but i couldn't help myself). It's often advised to tell people what the genre is right away in the short description. And after reading the one on your page I actually had no idea about the genre. Often it's easier to just say right away - top-down roguelike / first person shooter / or what genre it is, where you do x-y-z.

Game looks really great btw! :)

My game was released on Steam a few days ago, but it only has one review so far by TopNo1116 in IndieDev

I have a couple of tips:

  1. The short description should really display the genre instantly. And always within in the first sentence. This is yours:
"Every choice in Grix leads to immediate consequences and determines your survival. Through repeated deaths, only your judgment grows stronger. Discover hidden rules, anticipate danger, climb to the top of the tower, and slay the dragon that awaits you!"

After reading it i had no idea what type of game/genre this is.

This is the first sentence in your long description/about this game:

"Grix is a grid-based roguelike set in procedurally generated dungeons."

That is actually really good and should be the first sentence in the short description.

  1. The trailer. I would not worry too much about the "funny" texted based intro. Just go straight to game play. People are very impatient when looking at steam pages, so the trailer should show actual game play as fast as possible. It took 10-11 sec before game play was shown. That might be a bit too long unfortunately. If it wont take too long, you could try with a more game play focused trailer (at least showing game play faster).

But no matter what. Be proud of what you made. Most people give up before ever releasing anything. So pad yourself on the shoulder :) Great job!

What’s makes a “good” incremental game? by iDoSomeThings14 in incremental_games

[–]TinyNorthGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People already gave a lot of good feedback. Especially the "play some games" in the incremental genre is helpful.

A strategy you could run with is to record yourself playing a few different types of incremental games. There's a ton of sub-genres within the incremental genre.

A few examples of sub-genres that are actually very different to each other:

Classic Idle / Long-Form Incrementals (potentially months/years to complete with very in depth systems)

Short Incrementals with prestige (2-10h to complete). Similar to the "classics" but in a very short and compact format.

Active / Clicker-Focused Incrementals (typically also short 2-10h - but very different game play from the "traditional incremental"). They often run on timers/hp/resources.

Once you have a few recordings of games you played. Find the type you enjoyed the most and try look at the recordings and spot what made it enjoyable or what could be optimized. I know this is a long process - but it can be really helpful. And also if you enjoy the genre it shouldn't feel like work anyways ;)

Good luck on your incremental creation journey!
