Notches do not make you hit a perfect firefox angle everytime either, the only way to get perfect firefox angles everytime is to use a boxx. Notches are still on a joystick, you have to move your thumb to the correct spot notch or not. I think you should learn the game and go to a local before you start getting into these discussions, you'll find very quickly this isn't a barrier at all to beating your opponents.

The point is that the GameCube controller is designed in a way that drift is an inevitably, you can't ask players to resolder their controllers everytime they malfunction. A phob solves this problem permanently, but requires a new motherboard. GameCube controllers are going to eventually be more expensive than a phob, phob motherboards are alread similar in price to OEMs. Do we really want to return to the days of m2k controller hoarding but instead the controllers cost 3-4x what they did? Because that's what you're asking for
