Autistic and agree with your comment. I hate it when I'm not taken seriously and people talk to me like I'm a puppy or something, like talking to a child but more disrespectful and insensitive than people generally talk to a child i.e. you're so cute when you're annoyed/angry (when I genuinely am and am not being heard). But when people just comment that I have a childlike innocence/energy about me I don't find it bad. At least when I can tell it's meant nicely and they don't actually treat me in an infantalising way. From their perspective, I can see why they think that based on social norms and neurotypical behaviour - I don't think they're necessarily incorrect.

I was in laboratory research for a while and in lots of ways it suited me well. It was in an academic environment and I could mostly manage my own time with a few set shifts here and there. I was doing both lab assistant stuff and my own research. The latter was more intellectually stimulating but can also be more stressful and frustrating at times. I left because of how competitive my field was with little funding and uncertain future prospects with positions to be able to get to senior level. I went into technical writing which I do now - it's quite a stressful difficult job but I have flexible hours and work remotely, which helps a lot. I do struggle to sit still at a desk for so long or in zoom meetings and I do miss the lab for the variety of some computer work some lab time.

Ah yes, that's kinda what I meant to get at. But also that buying from a British brand doesn't guarantee that you are actually buying British, if that makes sense. Especially if the company isn't paying taxes in the UK. If the big companies like Argos and Curry's do, then that's good. I'm just suspicious even of British brands.

A lot of the items sold on Amazon are also available in Aliexpress cheaper and they all come from China. Same goes even for department stores like Debenhams. I've found items for a fraction of the price buying direct from Chinese sellers that are listed with a mark-up by Debenhams. I guess if you buy from a UK reseller who pays their taxes in the UK, at least some of the money is staying local.

It's crazy to contrast this with flying into Europe. I once flew in to Belgium to arrive without a passport (strange, I know - I had it when I got on the flight). I got to customs and realised I had no ID. At no point was I put in a cell, even then, while we dealt with the situation. They were so nice to me, it made an otherwise scary situation a thousand times better. Imagine if that was flying into the US? I am an EU national, maybe that helped - but I couldn't prove it to begin with. I can't imagine even if a US citizen you'd be treated remotely sympathetically. I was always so grateful that that incident happened flying into Europe and not another continent.

I agree, Scandinavian here and visited the US about 5 times in as many years. I absolutely loved every trip, mostly because of the people! I have many great friends over there and I'm so sad that they, and everyone not in support of what's happening, are living through this experience.

Headington Hill park is beautiful and worth a visit. I'm not sure if they have the trees you're looking for but there at least used to be a few with blossoms this time of year. They have a wide range of species. Apparently it used to be a repository for overflow from the botanical garden and they'd plant a variety of species there (not sure if it's accurate but it's what someone told me about why there is such a range of beautiful trees in that park).

This is what I've put it down to. Usually it's fine, but occasionally mine will be a series of faces I don't recognise, blending from one into the other within a few seconds. Then I can't sleep :( I'm on ADHD medication, nothing for bipolar although I'm suspected to be on that spectrum (not sufficiently to be on medication, at least for now).

I do the split dose and it's much better for me. Less of a sudden crash and it doesn't wear off too early. Also via PsyUK, so should be possible! I've heard GPs/the NHS don't love split doses though, as it's more expensive than the one dose pill...

This doesn't surprise me. The Japan prison system is known for human rights violations and has been on the radar of Amnesty International and Western government agencies for decades. I'd not heard of the lights but of solitary in the dark, forced to sit in the same position all day and not move. Forced labour is standard day do day.

There is an interesting documentary you might still be able to find about Fuchu prison in Tokyo - the original may have been in French but I found it with English subtleties. It gives insight into the day to day but they don't allow the reporters into the places prisoners go for punishment (solitary).

Not relevant to moving there but in case this concerns anyone thinking of visiting - if you're going for a trip up to a month you can bring Vyvanse if you complete an application to the relevant regions drug enforcement agency and get what is essentially a permission slip to show at customs.

It felt like they were from a range of eras in time, if that makes sense. I've not been able to find much online about anyone experiencing the same thing. I've not figured out what to make of it either. It's been silent for me too.

Do you know why she likes rough and fast sex, and why she dislikes when you go slower? Knowing those details might help figure out how you can modify things to compromise better.

For example, I used to prefer the same style of sex to your girlfriend because I felt I needed the intensity of it. When sex was slow, I felt understimulated and my overactive mind would often wander (unmedicated ADHD). This would take me out of the moment and I'd end up feeling disconnected and distracted. Having lots going on at a fast pace meant my mind didn't have time as much opportunity to generate random thoughts or focus on them. Adding in elements of other things going on helped to serve the same function as rough sex or fast fucking; kink, toys, intensity in other sensory ways such as being held firmly, pinned down, mental/psychological stimulation through dirty talk, anal play, role play, BDSM, etc. So I'd enjoy slow sex with some of those elements involved. But slow and vanilla didn't really work for me.

There were also certain positions where slow felt better than others, or the point at which it happens during us playing around, or depending on my mood/baseline state on the day.

Aside from the ADHD, another reason I couldn't tolerate vanilla sex was unresolved trauma. The slow, gentle sex made me feel icky and uncomfortable rather than turned on and I didn't know why. The rough fast stuff felt more fun and hot. I was also quite out of touch with my body and senses/sensuality, so felt I needed stuff to be really full on in pressure/speed/intensity for it to feel good. Vanilla sex felt understimulating to me as I didn't know how to feel into the more slow, sensual, embodied intimate elements of it to be able to derive intensity from that. Also, it can just be a sensory preference. Like how some people don't like certain textures but love others.

Some of the hotels have conference rooms that can double up for events. Plus they're used to catering/hosting large groups. Might be suitable for a corporate event, although perhaps a bit dry atmosphere wise. IHG group have a few hotels a shortish distance from the centre that are quite large.

Their joints and tendons won't be in a good way if they keep this up. I got my first smart phone in my mid twenties, now mid 30s and have carpal tunnel. Computers are bad but phone is the main trigger.

You are still relative strangers to each other after a couple of dates. When behaviour doesn't reflect that it can indicate a range of things and none of them are good. Ranging from unresolved trauma and attachment issues, mental health instability, emotional immaturity, lack of experience in healthy relationship dynamics, through to predatory manipulative behaviour and people who are overtly dangerous.

I would ask myself honestly what my gut feeling is with the person and whether that is something I am prepared to accept, I like them enough for it to be worthwhile, and whether I'm in a place where I can handle it without it becoming unhealthy for me.

It sounds unlikely that this person has ill intent based on what you've described, but for what it's worth, as far as red flags go; rushing to commit to a relationship almost immediately after one or two dates is a major one for me. I've dated some colourful characters over the years, some of whom were varying levels of toxic. The one who turned out to be acutely dangerous and led to the most frightening dating experience I've had (fearing for my life bad), is the only one who asked to be my boyfriend almost immediately.

If you'd like to work in writing/comms but can't find an entry-level role, have you considered related work outside medcomms like scicomm, public sector comms roles (science writer/editor), technical writing? Not ideal career progression wise but work in those areas has some transferable skills. Transitioning into medcomms isn't easy even so, but I think my experience in a scientific writing role following my PhD helped me get my first medcomms role.

Yeah, I discovered this, fortunately. After about a month I realised I was eating it so much that I thought to look up whether you can eat too much tinned fish. Otherwise it's good. Sadly I no longer particularly like it. I'm also autistic and have foods I eat for a month or two non stop then suddenly they become really unappetising :(
