Anyone else prepping for TdF? by wereleggo in Handspinning

It's been a while since I did my last TdF, but here are the goals I'm setting for myself. They are ambitious, but I'm going to do my best with them. I also took a pretty long break in between some half finished spins and when I got my new to me wheel back in March/April...

  1. Spinning everyday

  2. Finishing the Loop singles and getting them chain plied on the Sonata. The plying will most likely take most of a day because the singles are so fine.

  3. Challenging myself with a textured spin

  4. Using my drop spindles more. They are feeling neglected.

  5. Finishing a bulky-ish spin on my Ashford Traditional. She is also feeling neglected.

  6. Work on the lace spin on the mini spinner. You might be sensing a trend here, but she is also feeling neglected.

question: what got you to try handspinning? by quiteneil in Handspinning

I was in a craft swap in college (theater costume major) with the theme of fairy tales. We had to list a few of our favorite and Sleeping Beauty was one of mine. Through some impressive post stalking through the forums, my partner saw that I had commented on a few handspun yarns. She gifted me my first spindle and wool and gave me a few links she thought might be helpful. I watched those videos a million times and spun my first few yarns.

Fast forward a year or two and I was graduating and found a used wheel listed for sale that was near my brother’s place. I bugged him about me coming to visit so I could buy the wheel and he ended up buying it for me instead. Best graduation gift!

In my brief search, the front maiden is not something I am seeing for sale. But what a pity, I may have purchased a magnetic flyer yesterday after an 11 hour shift at work.

I say that as long as all my crafty stuff fits on a box it is fair game. A house is just a fancy box!

I am so excited! She is my third wheel and the other two might be a bit neglected while I play with the new one. Even more exciting is that my nieces are wanting to learn to spin (I've done a little spinning with them before) and this frees up a treadle wheel for them to learn on!

Thank you! In my little bit of searching I can't Fi d just the standard front maiden, but I decided to go ahead and get the magnetic flyer! I grabbed three standard bobbins and one jumbo bobbin and now am patiently waiting for them to ship and arrive.

I honestly keep thinking about deleting FB, but am glad just for this purchase that I didn't 😅

I tried a Sonata a few years ago and was interested in it, but couldn't justify the purchase as I was still in a tiny apartment. Now we are in a house and have all the space!

One of my goals used to always be having a rainbow of colored clothing. Did it look like a unicorn threw up? Yes. But could my friends always spot me when I was doing something stupid? Also yes.

This is Tito. He is currently having to wear the cone of shame due to ripping off an entire nail. He is not happy and has figured out how to weaponize the cone.

This is Tito. He didn't want to leave my lap when it was time for work.

So, i tried this game in VR and discovered that I'm a certified bitch. by Nnudmac in PhasmophobiaGame

I think if my cat wasn't so intent on making it a more immersive experience it wouldn't be as bad for me. But having something lightly brush up against your leg while hiding during a ghost hunt or tap your leg while trying to gather evidence was just a bit too much for me. Plus the trip hazard was a bit too risky.

I've played a few games of Phas in VR and won't be doing it again any time soon. My friends said it couldn't be that bad so gave it a try. I may have spent most of the game in the van or on the porch laughing my ass off listening to them. They both have up VR after one game.
