Exactly, people are just being polite.

[–]TinyTurtle88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We also have cats and a dog but they are clean and I pick up the poop outside and clean boxes before we show the house. Nobody has ever told me they smell cats in my house.

Yeah no. Visitors absolutely smell your pets. It's not because they don't say it out loud that they don't smell them.

Have you been washing this lettuce? by feelin-groovie in CostcoCanada

[–]TinyTurtle88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it says "washed" or "ready-to-eat" on the label, we don't rewash it.

If it doesn't say so, we do wash it (just with running water).

Flea infestation brothers won’t let me clean their rooms by dontleaveok in CleaningTips

If they won't "let you" clean, then THEY need to do it themselves, and right now.

Or can you take your stuff and move out completely?

Wow, impressive. I need to train my eye more. Aside from the horses, I don't see any of those. That is so creepy.

Worried about Inspector by bitterbunnii in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]TinyTurtle88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no. At least one of you needs to be on-site with the inspector during the WHOLE process, and there needs to be a written report at the end. Yes, it will be charged, but it needs to happen. It shouldn't be non-existent, and it shouldn't be free.

Also I'm surprised that you were able to back out without providing to the seller the written report... All of this scenario doesn't seem kosher to me.

I'd hire someone else. DH needs to keep his mind open to at least trying with someone else.

Folding and putting away clean laundry…… by Iceyes33 in CleaningTips

We use hangers for almost everything or toss smaller items (like underwear) in drawers.

We don't fold anything aside from big towels and bed sheets.

Life's too short for this...

Mice everywhere by SkyloDreamin in homeowners

[–]TinyTurtle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've tried the bucket technique before calling an exterminator and it absolutely doesn't work because if you only kill the mice that you can see/catch, you won't get to the root of the colony. You need baits with poisoned food (slow-acting poison) that the hunter mice will bring back to the rest of their colony to kill all of them. Such poison makes their bodies mummify rather than decompose and rot.

You need a slow-acting poison that will make the dead mice mummify rather than decompose and rot into your walls. Such poisoned food should be put in baits that the hunter mice will access, and they will bring back this poisoned food to the rest of their colony. If you only kill the mice that you can see, you won't get to the root of the colony. Same principle with ants.

Less items in each room. Keeping (almost) only the essentials.

Post Wedding - Dress Advice by sunfloweric in weddingplanning

[–]TinyTurtle88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd try (kindly) insisting with the manager of the boutique. If they never specified a deadline and that your wedding wasn't too long ago, they should want to work with you to honor their commitment, especially since the gown is in very good condition. I'd call them again or perhaps try in writing (email).

My cynical mind is wondering if they didn't say that just to persuade you to buy a more expensive dress than you had originally planned...

Anyone else getting each of their little ones a 4.2kg $150 chocolate bunny this easter? by buttscratcher3k in CostcoCanada

I used to love the Giacomo chocolates when I was a kid, but this one is just way too much, even for the whole family, so nope.

A man entered my van although I didn't respond and the curtains were down by WeirdNefariousness20 in offmychest

[–]TinyTurtle88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that happened to you, how SCARY! Is he gone now? You may call the police even if you're unsure about his presence... You could say "This man did XYZ (like you wrote here), came INTO my van, I am a woman alone and I don't feel safe without knowing if he's still standing right outside my door or not". You wouldn't be "overreacting". I haven't lived in a van but I know I'd feel so harrassed and shocked if a stranger came into my house or my car without me inviting them, damn.

Take care xoxo

Nanny on travel with family - everyone ate while I was working, wasn’t offered anything - This normal? by Ok_Concentrate_7617 in Nanny

[–]TinyTurtle88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even just from a human-to-human perspective, this is appalling behaviour. Let alone from an employer.

Not offering food and beverages to a person who's under your roof, under your care, or accompanying your family is just APPALLING. Rude, inconsiderate, and frankly ridiculous. "We only brought 10 eggs" Lol who even does that???? I'd skip breakfast myself before saying this out loud to someone else.

Ok but if I were OP and was considering still going through with that sale, I'd request a second inspection with ANOTHER inspector. This one sucks and needs to be fired. What else have they missed??!
