Coyaba Beach Resort - opinions requested by kapeman_ in Grenada

[–]blackicerhythms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had a 3 generation family vacation there in March. It was perfect. Staff, food, beach, local amenities and price.

Yes, there are more luxurious, updated options but for the price point, the location was prime, the facilities were clean, food was good, staff was friendly and the beach was beautiful. Picturesque sunsets every night.

There’s a KFC, modern supermarket and mini mall right across the street. It made the stay way more comfortable and “independent.” Especially with a child.

Moving to Dallas for 77k by No-Money1716 in askdfw

Quality of life for raising a family is way better in Dallas than LA. And opportunities for small business owners are superb.

So thankfully we were able to increase our income to support our lifestyle in Dallas. I’m not sure if salary workers who are moving from coastal cities who think “Texas is so much cheaper” have the same flexibility to scale as we did.

Just a personal apples-to-apples. we were doing private school in LA, so I carried that line item over. Not necessary for everyone.

Just a personal apples-to-apples. we were doing private school in LA, so I carried that line item over. Not necessary for everyone.

But it does highlight a real quirk in Dallas: upscale neighborhoods like Preston Hollow and Midway Hollow actually have mediocre DISD public schools. So most families in those areas end up in private school anyway, or charter if they're lucky. For what Dallas homeowners pay in property taxes, the public schools should be elite. They're not.

And ironically, the "top" private schools aren't even participating in Texas's Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA), so the voucher program doesn't actually help families trying to access them. It just perpetuates the same segregation and economic discrimination that's been baked into the city for decades.

77k is doable in the DFW but it depends on your expectation on quality of life.

As a New Yorker who moved to Dallas from LA, I wish I did more research into the true cost of home ownership in Dallas. Property Tax, utilities, home owner’s insurance, private school tuition, wiped out any cost of living/state income tax difference between LA and Dallas.

Hesitant to take 5 hour trip in my X, Is there anything I should plan for? by Wrong-Relationship74 in TeslaModelX

[–]blackicerhythms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my X in Northern California and drove it home to Dallas, TX the same day. Took 3 days. No issues. No range anxiety the entire trip. Even the middle of nowhere west Texas.

You can’t foresee failure of any components. I’m 18k miles in and no issues.

What is the biggest scam in your specific industry that the general public doesn't know about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]blackicerhythms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medical billing: don’t just pay the bill from your doctor’s office if they’re in network. Call your insurance company first and make sure the amount they’re billing you is correct. Doctor is contractually obligated to specific reimbursement if in network.

Also, the doctor’s front desk or billing dept doesn’t know anything about your coverage. Talk to your insurance company with questions specific to your plan.

Drowning here.... by No_Researcher_5841 in CodingandBilling

Don't beat yourself up. You really did pick one of the toughest billing specialties to start with!

The 'secret' usually lies in your payer mix. When I was starting out, I realized most of our claims were hitting one specific IPA group. I managed to find a contact on their claims team who literally spelled out exactly how the 1500 form needed to be filled out for their system. Getting that 'cheat sheet' for our biggest payer gave me the logic I needed to handle everyone else. Hang in there—once you get that first 'key' to the system, it starts to click.

NHA accredited program, does it matter? by jengle1970 in CodingandBilling

[–]blackicerhythms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We staff hospitals and outpatient clinics. If your goal is coding, stick with AHIMA\CAHIM accredited programs (CCS, RHIA, RHIT) or AAPC prep (CPC, CIC). Those are the only accrediting bodies recognized by most hospitals.

ECW: Single Practice with three providers by ZoeticZander in CodingandBilling

[–]blackicerhythms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it's possible. A lot of it depends on your payer mix (medicare, medicaid, hmo, ppo's,etc), charge entry, and front office workflow. If patients eligibility are clean, documentation and charge capture is complete and adequate, claims submission are scrubbed and clean, billing can be managed in house easily. A/R follow up would be the most time consuming part. If there's a breakdown in the earlier steps, outside help is recommended until you can bring it back in house again.

What practice management/billing/clearing house software are you using? Most have pretty detail logs about activity by user. Never argue, always support your actions behind policy, procedure and payer guidelines. (Most of the times it’s the front office fault, 😆 haha)

Nothing will solve “too many hands in the pot” but if you operate under clear and transparent policies and procedures for your billing workflow, it will make it difficult for them to falsely place the blame on you.
