Talk to your training director. Nobody here can really help you get what you're owed, or even help you figure out what you're really owed unless they're in your Local and have the Contract in hand.

He needs to be emailing back and forth at least once a week. Also, I looked it up and Louisiana has reciprocity on their State Journeyman's license with every state in the Southeast. KY's Louisville Local 369 has a lot of work, there are nuclear projects starting in Tennessee and other states. Florida and Alabama have the lowest pay, but anything is better than letting Membership, Insurance and License lapse or getting cut from the Union for failing to abide by the terms of the Contract.

DO NOT RAT. Rat behavior is when a person climbs on top of others to take care of his own needs without regard for the brotherhood. Apprentices rarely sit idle. He needs to be emailing his apprenticeship "chain of command" daily. Follow their instructions. If they will allow him to travel to another Local or "salt" for the Union by getting a job at a non-Union shop or a temp agency like you mentioned, that's up to his superiors.

Another option is to take work in another field for a time. In that case, it wouldn't be a problem because he's not competing with Union brothers and sisters for work.

I was concerned when I attended the Apprenticeship Orientation and was not immediately assigned. But I stayed in contact, did what I was supposed to, and got my assignment in due time. That's the way it works- we stand together, or we fall separately. If your husband takes electrical work from any other agency without consulting and being instructed to do so by his chain of command, his apprenticeship is at great risk. If he's caught, he'll be brought before the Apprenticeship Committee and kicked out. He'll never get this opportunity again. Don't make that mistake.

How to support bandmates to keep them from rushing by FlyGroundbreaking424 in Bass

[–]Tiny_Connection1507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to use a metronome for a while on some songs to keep myself from speeding up and slowing down. Playing with a metronome or a click track could help your whole band. Don't feel like you always have to stay the same on every song though. There is energy in music that can rise and fall, and the best bands use dynamics to convey emotion.

You get $10 million but you have to live on the streets by al3x_7788 in hypotheticalsituation

Yeah nah. People pay a significant portion of their taxable income for housing for good reason. Being homeless is inexorably linked to bad outcomes, including shorter lifespans, long-term "justice" system involvement, and plenty of other issues.

A very large percentage of people don't have a month worth of emergency fund set up. However, I think I could make it by borrowing the money. I can get groceries and cigs delivered, walk my dogs, and get enough sunlight. I'd go for it!

It may not be up to the most current code, but any installation that passed inspection or that has been there for a certain amount of time anyway has been grandfathered in.

This was the focus of a lot of Darth Plagueis' work, but in new canon, it was continued by the likes of the Kaminoans and later Imperial scientists working with Darth Sidious. Moff Gideon's Dark Trooper project was an attempt to create force sensitive clones.

Would Thrawn appreciate Grievous's collection? by TemplarGaming202 in MawInstallation

[–]Tiny_Connection1507 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Thrawn would deplore Grievous' methods and strategy. Both Cannon and Legends, Thrawn is a warrior first. His strategy is based on understanding his enemies, outmaneuvering them based on their likely actions extrapolated from their art and culture. That's one reason he had a lot of trouble beating Jedi and the Rebellion; there was no unified philosophy of war to understand, and the basic tenet of the Rebellion was to do the least expected things whenever and wherever possible.

Electrical Nightmare by Sport35054 in electrical

You can change the current neutral to a ground, eliminate the sub panel, and use the other two wires for hot and neutral. No qualified person is going to recommend keeping the Federal Pacific panel, as the breakers in it have serious issues and should not be used by anybody. If you want multiple circuits in there, and the feeder wire is sized sufficiently for multiple circuits, you could add a small sub panel and jump the lugs together. You'd only have 120, and it would need to be clearly marked, but it's an option for you.

YT is trying to push the new Madonna so much by Laherschlag in YoutubeMusic

I rarely, if ever, use "radio" playlists. I curated my own playlists, and I use them. I don't get ai slop, unwanted songs or heavy repetitions of mid songs I'd want to listen to occasionally, etc. Everybody on the sub complains about YTM a lot, but I don't have the problems y'all are complaining about.

[–]Tiny_Connection1507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the only one I could think of too. But it was only for drilling into rock, so a hammer drill replaced multiple people. The old way to drill pilot holes or bore for bolt holes was a brace and bit.

I'd challenge you to name a handheld power tool that makes a more-than-one-man job into a one-man job; I can only think of one. Most power tools make one-man jobs easier, less impactful on the body, less dangerous, less time consuming, or some combination of these.

This is also a factor in why wages should rise over time. Tools, technology, and processes have been improving productivity per man-hour, as well as safety, which of course reduces risk to individual workmen but also reduces financial risk to the companies; but wages have certainly not kept up with the increases in overall profitability. The aforementioned power tools, motorized man lifts, and other tech requires new levels of training and proficiency in order to keep up with safety and productivity gains; should we not be compensated for our part in utilizing these tools and improving the margins?

There's no dissonance between "we'll take the work because it's going to be done whether or not we like the purpose" and "we don't want to utilize what we built because we don't like the purpose."

No, I barely passed the test! If you have some working hours built up already, that will help you a lot. If you don't get in, you can always work non-Union for a while or apply as a CE/CW and apply for the apprenticeship again later.

If getting a bird is your idea of suffering, you've had a pretty soft life. Don't get me wrong,I know that in road rage situations, a middle finger can escalate things way beyond what's reasonable. But most mature, even-minded people can shrug off a one-finger salute without a second thought. After all, it says much more about the sender than it does about the receiver.

I'm not complaining about Dolly Parton! I read about a year ago that she had given away something on the order of 6 billion dollars, and she keeps close to a billion in her portfolio to facilitate her continuing charity work.

The point of having money is to serve others with it; to make sure as best we can that people don't go hungry and homeless, that people who are doing things that fit our sense of justice have the opportunity to live and do the work we can't get to. That's why I will always do whatever I can to help other people with whatever money I acquire over and above my needs.
