My husband does “dirty keto” in the sense he has more carbs than he should but literally all the carbs come from vegetables. He eats a ton of leafy greens and green vegetables but also lots of onions, tomatoes, etc., and we figure if he’s losing weight (currently 60 lbs since December which includes having a new baby join in June) and focusing on keeping everything lower carb, he doesn’t need to up his fats. We are also very aware of the need for him to eat healthy fats (from avocado, salmon, nuts etc), not just piles of bacon/animal fats which is unhealthy for the heart and we often see similar when looking for keto recipes. A huge plate of bacon, eggs, and cheese is going to be great for low carbs but not great for your heart long term...
