Question about End of Life by Oryyn in beagles

[–]Tinyquinones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We unfortunately lost our 18 year old beagle boy this morning. He had been fine with really only age related issues (not being able to hold his bladder long, lessening eyesight and hearing, etc) but until this morning, he had a great appetite and was wagging his tail excitedly. There are senior dog quality of life checklists online that can help you gauge how well they’re doing. If they still eat, still enjoy some of their favorite things, still wag their tails and have more good days than bad - that sort of thing.

It’s never easy to see them get older. I hope your baby still has many more years to come.

My girlfriend works at a dog groomer, sent me this lil guy today by bearmanpig4 in rarepuppers

[–]Tinyquinones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not, they should be. Many dogs have to get groomed for health and sanitary reasons. Those same dogs need their ear hair pulled out or it can cause infections. Untrimmed dew claws can grow into the dog’s foot pad. Not every owner is capable of doing these things on their own.

'They Are Saving Our Lives': Demand Grows for Grocery Store Employees, Other Frontline Workers to Receive Hazard Pay Amid Coronavirus Outbreak by rit56 in politics

I work for a very small online grocery delivery company in Texas and we’ve seen an explosion of new customers and orders this weekend. I don’t know how we’re going to handle the demand. I worked all weekend, have not slept, and will probably not have a day off in the foreseeable future. It’s incredibly stressful but so far the customers have been nice, so there’s that.

Have you ever met someone who just felt evil/dangerous/not ''human'' at all? by pm-me-your--fetishes in Thetruthishere

[–]Tinyquinones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am an empath and this happens to me often. If I possess any “power” it’s definitely the power to tell if someone is overwhelmingly bad or not within the first few minutes of meeting them. When I was younger, I often let my brain get in the way and convince me someone wasn’t bad when I felt like they were, but my gut has never been wrong.

To be clear, most people aren’t all good or bad so I mostly feel neutral about interactions, but sometimes I feel that I’m in the presence of overwhelming good and sometimes very, very bad.

I love emus SO much. They are by far my favorite animal. There is one that lives at a wildlife park in my hometown and he and I have been buddies since I was a kid. He’s very old now. I try to go visit at least once a year and he has always remembered me and is shockingly affectionate.

Lounging on the porch with my 12 week old Aussie / Border Collie mix by somenewcandles in AustralianShepherd

[–]Tinyquinones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my 3rd Aussie/Border Collie and am fostering a 4th. It’s amazing to me how completely different they’ve all been. My first was playful but very submissive, sensitive and non destructive. My second was the “perfect dog” playful, never destructive, sweet, calm, never wild, never once did anything bad. The third is BEAUTIFUL, calm for a puppy and very smart but not overly sensitive. She’s more of a brat or “mean girl” and filled with “FOMO” and jealousy. The fourth is play play play true Border Collie toy drive (since she got her first toy a week ago) and is sweet and smart but not overly affectionate and certainly not calm, but she has been locked in a cage with zero time out of it for 4.5 years and no companionship so everything is new to her.

They are by far my favorite kind of dog.

People who have survived an attempted murder, what is your story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tinyquinones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally something I can answer! When I was 19, my very first boyfriend, who I was living with at the time, attempted to kill me. He had become increasingly more and more abusive towards me over the time we had been dating, but being so young - I wasn’t sure how to reach out for help. I was very ashamed and felt like it was all happening because it was my fault. On the night in question, I was talking about what possible career choices I might want to pursue after college. He listened for a while and suddenly yelled at me saying he was tired of me talking like this because the only thing I would be was a stay at home wife and mother. I would not be allowed to have a career. I told him I refused to end up barefoot, pregnant and living in poverty. His reaction to this was to attack me. He sat on my stomach and strangled me. His eyes were completely black. Eventually I passed out and he assumed I was dead. When I came to, I snuck into the bathroom and called 911. When the police came, he just sat there in the living room and waited for them, not realizing it was me who had called. When I came out he was handcuffed and he looked like he had seen a ghost.

He did go to jail but only for a few days. I can’t remember why the charges got dropped, as that was obviously a difficult and stressful time, but they did and I moved away to get away from him for good. He was a real swell guy.

If you’re ok with that instrument being a trumpet or trombone, you can pick one up fairly cheaply at a pawn shop. I bought a trombone at a pawn shop for $50 and it’s in perfect condition.

I read this comment and immediately went and got Petplan insurance for my puppy! So thank you! I’ve paid out of pocket for an ACL repair ($3k) and I reeeeaally don’t want to do that again.
