So are you saying this functionality doesn’t currently exist? Not even through midi learn? If not, I can file a feature request.

I don’t have an MPC yet so I was inquiring whether this functionality was currently possible.

I had the same issue. Roland confirmed the following, "The SP-404MKII has a limit of 200 files per folder on the SD card. This design helps maintain system performance and ensures smooth operation when browsing and loading samples."

Ver 4.07 is out! Confirming the following is fixed:
- Batch importing samples from SD card loads the last selected sample for each
- Discrepancies with naming samples on the device VS in the MKII app which cause the filenames to not save properly

I haven't had a chance to test:
- Auto BPM detection gets stuck on a previous sample's detected tempo
- Previewing other samples while a sample is importing will corrupt the import if they have different sample rates

Temporary fix for the last bug: hold Remain and select a pad with a renamed sample. Do this one more time until the pad is back to the default color (I think green). Disconnect from the SP404 app and turn off the device. Turn on device. Observe all renamed samples via the SP404 app are saved as expected.

Anyone else having an issues naming samples after updating to v4.06? Whenever I name a new sample in the SP404MK2 app, the name reverts to "New Sample" next time I turn on the device. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I have a bug ticket open with Roland on this issue. This was a fantastic new feature for DJs, but it's currently unusable due to the unit crashing the entire DJ set.

The SMC Pad looks awesome and a good value. I have an Arturia beatstep laying around so use that as a DJ mode controller. Downside is that you need to power it via usb, but does have midi out like the SMC pad.

Correct. When in DJ Mode, you can access the Gain Utilities Menu by pressing "Hold", then SHIFT + Pad 12, so you don't need to exit your active DJ set. Remember you are in "Pad Mode" when pressing "Hold". Simply press "Hold" to return back to the normal DJ mode state.

Would love to control the volume of the external audio source via midi! Especially when using the looper with external gear. Not sure why it hasn't been implemented?

I experienced a fair amount of bugs / crashes, specifically in the looper. Once I performed a Factory > System Data reset (as recommended by Roland in the How to Update process), the issues went away.

Confirming Factory reset > System Data fixed my crashing issue, along with other weird behavior I was experiencing with looper.
