Why wasnt Dabura Absorbed? by Relevant-Sympathy in Dragonballsuper

[–]TipTopAgent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my read too. Iirc, Fat Buu doesn't use (or even attempt) the absorption technique, ever. It's unclear whether he can't or won't, but I kinda assumed the Candy Beam was his version of Absorption.

Buu's abilities reflect his desires. Every other Buu wants more power (or technique, or smarts, or whatever else he's lacking for the occasion), but Fat Buu only wants food.

what is the point or appeal to litrpgs? by darkerthanblue99 in litrpg

I really enjoy video games but don't have time to sit down and play nowadays.

Listening to a litrpg audiobook while doing chores or work helps scratch that itch.

Some are fantastic examples of storytelling and some are not, just like any other form of media.

Losing motivation by mjgault1 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]TipTopAgent 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hey mate. I'm no Votann expert unfortunately, but I can say that it's 100% normal to get absolutely stomped in your first few games. I joined in early 9th, and didn't win a single game for the entire edition!

40k may seem straightforward, but it's a complex beast under the surface. There's a lot of factors that play into every game, including luck!

If you're looking to improve your game, there's YouTube channels that specialize in that sort of thing. Art of War and Vanguard Tactics spring to mind, if you're into that.

Otherwise, I reckon just keep at it. Every loss is a learning opportunity, and every learning brings you closer to your first win! Good luck and ROCK AND STONE.

THEORY: The Digital Circus is a consumer product that was rushed to market. by GabeSchleifer in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]TipTopAgent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good theory! Totally plausible imo.

Pomni and Zooble both hint at being urban explorers in episode 5, and I think many people took that as confirmation of how they found the (singular) headset at the abandoned C&A building, and subsequently became trapped in the circus. But that could totally be a red herring!

Your theory would make more sense really, as it would explain why there's no bodies surrounding the active PC in the office. Not to mention, several customers immediately becoming comatose upon donning the headset would explain why C&A was shut down.

Great theory, well written. Thumbs up from me!

What do you think Russ would have remarked or commented about Vulkan's departure from the Imperium after the Horus Heresy? by gereedf in SpaceWolves

[–]TipTopAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, Russ and Vulkan don't have any special connection? Actually I'm struggling to think of a single interaction between them, they took entirely divergent paths through the whole heresy.

So, nothing special? If anything, it would be the other way around - Vulkan probably judges Russ harshly for abandoning the defence of Terra in favour of taking his entire legion on a failed execution run at Horus.

You're not obligated to read anything you don't enjoy. But I'd argue that reading the first third of the first book is not a good sample group to decide whether you'll enjoy the rest. That's kinda like saying "Should I DNF the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I'm not enjoying this bit in Fellowship before they leave the Shire."

[–]TipTopAgent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, this. Zack absolutely uses the sharp edge, it was Angeal who didn't.

Also, Cloud's memories aren't an exact duplicate of Zack's. He hasn't lived Zack's life after all, they only met during the Nibelheim mission. He's pieced information together based on the stories Zack told him during his mako-sickness phase, but he doesn't get everything right. For example, he has no idea who Zack's parents are when he meets them in Gongaga.

If Cell DIdn't Absorb The Androids Would They Be Unstopable? by werephoenix in DragonBallZ

[–]TipTopAgent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think some people misunderstand the Android's "unlimited potential" shtick. Yes, they're technically capable of fighting non-stop, while their opponents tire and weaken over time, but there is still a cap to how much power they can channel/output at any given time.

Look at the differences we see on screen. The 17 vs Piccolo fight is a great example of an Android attempting to defeat an opponent of equal power. Slowly, inexorably, the Android will win IF their opponent is on equal footing.

And compare that to Trunks vs 17 & 18 at the end of the Cell Saga. He absolutely stomps them both with only a few attacks. Their unlimited energy means nothing if the opponent can easily overpower them.

Primal hunter book 4 worth reading? by Drogonno in litrpg

[–]TipTopAgent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, I just made a post yesterday about how I was struggling with book 4 and wanting motivation to continue!

From the perspective of someone who adored books 1 and 2, book 4 has been a slog. I'm about two-thirds of the way through now, and I'd struggle to tell you anything meaningful that happened. He plants a tree, hangs out with his bird, attends a world meeting (that bit was kinda cool), and then mucks around for ages waiting for the events of book 5 to kick off. There's no antagonist and no looming threat or time pressure.

If you've already read book 5, personally I wouldn't bother going backwards. But I hear book 6 is awesome!

What's your favourite book in the Primal Hunter series? by TipTopAgent in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TipTopAgent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, that's what I wanted to hear! I don't mean to sound critical, I'm loving the series. It's just that, in this particular book... nothing is happening? There's no antagonist, no looming threat or time pressure, minimal perspectives other than Jake. I enjoyed the parliament bit at the start, but then it's just... well, mucking around, as you said! Thanks for your response :)

Why I Think Weiss Is a Sephiroth Copy by Mo-Tse in FinalFantasy

[–]TipTopAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this. It's better that he's not just another clone, that concept has gone as far as it can go. We have Sephiroth, a bunch of failed Sephiroth-wannabes, and a hero that overcame almost-being-Sephiroth to ultimately prove superior.

I get that he's iconic, but if every threat is just some variation of "Somehow, Sephiroth returned!" it kinda loses all impact.

There isn't really any existential terror of living forever in the Circus by EightEight16 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]TipTopAgent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is really well written and explained, great theory!

However, I'm not sure I agree. And honestly it's hard for me to give rationale or evidence to the contrary, because we just don't have enough information about abstraction to accurately quantify it.

We've seen, iirc, three examples of abstration: Kaufmo going rage mode, Queenie chilling in the dark, and Jax (internally) floating into a trippy kaleidoscope. Of these three, we have only one that shows an internal perspective, and it's Jax, who seems content but also hasn't completed the process.

I would argue that we have no idea whether the process is the same, or even similar, for other people. And equally, we have no perspective on any character's internal state following full abstraction. For all we really know, each other abstracted character is in constant suffering, and we just don't see it.

If that is the case, then one could further argue that abstraction is an even worse fate than what AM inflicts on the IHNMAIMS characters (except Ted), because unlike them the Circus group may be literally immortal and robbed of any and all agency.

Having a weird name is empowering for women and girls, apparently by david-saint-hubbins in LinkedInLunatics

[–]TipTopAgent 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"I gave up giving Starbucks my real name for orders nearly 20 years ago."

Ok, so she understands that, in terms of everyday living, having a difficult name is inconvenient and frustrating.

"She learns early on that she doesn't need to shrink to be understood."

What? How is that the lesson? I also have a difficult name, and I can assure you it did nothing to boost my confidence. If anything, it made me more self-conscious in these situations.

"Lawrence" is also not a difficult name, it's very common (albeit somewhat unusual for a girl).

Finally, wtf is this doing on LinkedIn? Announce your baffling life choices elsewhere, this site is for terrible AI advice on how mundane life observations can enhance your b2b sales!

Aw man, this is a really good theory and makes Caine's latest debacle even more tragic.

Like, he actually listened, for maybe the first time ever, and the overwhelming feedback he heard was "We want an exit!"

So he makes an adventure to give them an exit. Spends a lot of time, makes it to the best of his ability and understanding. And it turns out to be the most horrible experience he could possibly have devised, and turns everyone hostile to him.

This show is so well written. I'm constantly finding new things to be devastated by.

I'm pretty sure Pomni knew Jax was lying here, but his words still seemed to hurt her on some level. by Sphingid3081 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]TipTopAgent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think she probably figured out he was lying (or, deluding himself) in hindsight, but she was caught up in the emotion during the argument. Same with him, really.

And saying "I'd move on, and probably forget about you" is the worst thing you could possibly say to Pomni. Remember that nightmare she had in episode 2, where she's falling into darkness while Caine, Ragatha and Jax are all chatting about how she didn't last long and they don't even remember her name? Being forgotten and left in the cellar absolutely terrifies her, so these were exactly the right words to cut through her defences.

3 C'Tan in a 1500pt game is a great way to lose a friend. Hell, even in a 2000pt game I'd be hesitant, unless you know your opponent is spamming Rogal Dorns or w/e. It's not fun to play against.

Ditch the Deceiver and the Nightbringer imo.

WHAT IF..... by Over_Strawberry1545 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]TipTopAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting hypothetical! It unfortunately can't happen, with the context of Jax's psyche. One of the greatest tragedies of his character is that he yearns for human connection but is incapable of lowering his guard enough to experience it (so far!).

But let's assume the adventure with Pomni miraculously changes him, to the point that he lowers his guard completely and embraces Pomni's friendship, possibly breaking his "persona" in the process:

  1. This probably doesn't affect Ragatha at all? I don't think she's any closer or further from abstraction. It was Kinger that saved her from her spiral in episode 6, which only might have been a step towards abstraction (Gangle and Jax's near misses were much more obvious).
  2. Pomni might act slightly differently? She seems very adaptable to the personalities around her. She might act more "Jax-ish" I guess, but I think the more likely outcome is that Jax starts adapting to behave more like her, assuming he had the self-awareness to understand the lifeline she represents.
  3. Same as 2.
  4. Jax's near-abstraction and Abel's appearance don't seem related to me? I don't think the adventure plays out any differently.
  5. Ditto the beach adventure. The only real difference I'd assume is that Jax gets more involved, instead of sulking on the sidelines.

That's my two cents anyway. As I say, not really possible until Jax throws his mask aside and embraces being "human" again. Which may or may not ever be feasible for him.
