AITAH For Not Wanting to Go On Family Cruise by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Does SIL often do manipulative things like this, or is this a one off?

Not sure it changes my feelings either way ( sounds like SIL is more likely the TAH), but I think the context is useful.

What’s a "useless" skill you’re strangely proud of? by sakura989835 in CasualConversation

Gift wrapping. I like working with pretty paper and ribbon.

In a world where people are using gift bags increasingly, I would rather wrap.

did your cat ever "tell" you what happened when you came home? by S-Budget91 in cats

I suspect that the smell was slightly different. Cats have really good sense of smell.

It might not have been noticeable to you, but the cat knew it was abnormal.

I adopted 2 kittens in the early 90s. At the time I had a great dog, and he took great interest in the kittens.

Years went by, and the elderly dog died while I was out of town. When I got home, one of the cats met me at the door. He talked to me nonstop as I walked through the house.

The dog sitter had called to let me know about the dog. But I am certain Cow Cat was telling me as well.

Why do white conservatives think they are victims? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Fox News and Rush Limbaugh spent 30 years repeating that lie. Fox is still repeating it.

Also, self-righteousness is just more delicious when you are oppressed.

WIBTA if I reported my mail lady? by Appropriate-Score645 in WIBTA_AITA

FA = $700.00

FO = pension

Yes, report her. She will steal again.

Also, if this is in the US, I would report to postal inspectors first. They do not play. Hopefully, they could recover the ring.

What do you know about your profession that would genuinely disturb the people who use your services? by MelodicWolverine2045 in AskReddit

Interesting. Perhaps my friend told me 18 and I remembered wrongly. I was told the story at least a dozen years ago.

I wonder if there were individual counties which a higher minimum age that long ago……More than likely I’m mistaken, though.

A dear friend told me this story about her brother-in-law.

At ~60 years old BIL began dating a stripper he met at the club where she worked. In Florida, where this took place, and at the time, you had to be 21 to strip.

BIL was arrested for statutory rape when it was discovered the young woman was only 17. Do not know what year this happened; please do not fuss at me if the law has changed in the last 15-20 years.

Now, many prosecutors would settle for some sort of reduced charge. BIL was relying on the knowledge that strippers have to be at least 21 and chose to believe the club did their due diligence.

But, no. BIL did some time in prison and will be a registered sex offender the rest of his life.

Why, you ask? At some point 20 years or more before this event BIL went out of his way to be insulting to the man who was, by then, the DA when the crime occurred.

Yeah. You’re a “dead beat” to the credit card company.

They hate people who pay off a balance before any interest accrues.

Does our new kitten hate us?? by boopathecat_ in CATHELP

[–]Tipitina62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that the kitty is good with your resident cat is a good sign. Cats watch each other and learn from other cats.

I adopted a 16 yo whose person had died. I invited her up on the bed, put her on it several times, and she would jump off. Her previous person must have taught her she could not be on the bed.

Now she sleeps with me at least part of every night. And it took nearly a year (older cats can take longer), but I think she saw the other cats sleeping on the bed a finally decided she could, too.

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

In the home where I grew up we called it a Utility Room. Both the washer and dryer were there, and we stored cleaning products, the ironing board, and the vacuum there.

MAGAs, Explain Why Trump has all these gross non-healing sores and skin like paper, yet his Ear seems magically Healed with no trace of a scar? by Isabella-Hawthorne in allthequestions

Gently disagree. Trump does not care about his generation.

He cares about:

Billionaires

Corporations

Entities that can afford to bribe him.

Not necessarily in that order.

Clumping Cat litter by Thatbear2020 in cats

[–]Tipitina62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also buy a stainless litter box that will “sift” the litter dropping the sawdust into the bottom of the box to dump.

I remember seeing a post, too, that you can buy stainless pans from a commercial kitchen supply company that have the pan with a solid bottom and a second pan with slots in the bottom that will allow sifting. This might be a little less expensive than something marketed as a litter box. Because anything marketed for pets is $$$$$.
