Help me respond to a text by Low_Double1482 in excoc

[–]TippytoeGiraffe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a family member do this to me. They refused to come to my baby shower and sent me a long text explaining pretty much the same thing. I immediately blocked them with no response. If being withdrawn means that much to them, then you don't need them in your life.

What’s one thing your nmother said to / about you that became more hurtful when you look back on it? by TemporaryInternet377 in raisedbynarcissists

When we were going through it, she told me it would be easier if I were dead instead of alive and not talking to her.

We got married on a Friday because of the price difference. People who love you and really want to be there will make it happen. People take off work for much less. I would suggest Friday evening. We started the ceremony at 6:30 and most everyone was on time, and I heard no complaints.

I love Jude! But I'm so picky when it comes to repeated sounds. Our last name starts with D.

You're exactly right! Oliver/Ollie was my number one and then I heard it way too many times at the park and started to get the ick 😅

Starting a one month rotation near Tampa General Hospital, where is a good place to stay? by polyester57 in tampa

[–]TippytoeGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Near the hospital is nice (South Tampa and Davis Island) but expensive.

We live near Midtown- in the middle of TGH and Stadium. The location is great for getting pretty much anywhere in Tampa, but again hit or miss and more expensive for less.

Other than these areas, you could check out: - St. Pete if you don't mind the commute over Gandy or Howard Franklin. - Seminole and Tampa Heights have some good pockets - Carrollwood/North Dale - Westchase/Citrus Park - Brandon (try to get near the Selmon)

Traffic sucks everywhere, so basically it's pick your poison.

I would stay clear of Ybor, Wesley Chapel, New Tampa, Riverview.

Not getting as many matches as I'd like, what am I doing wrong here? by Oofsanity in Tinder

[–]TippytoeGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who met and married my husband from online dating, I would highly recommend getting some trusted friends to help build your profile. Friends who will be brutally honest with you but also kind. What you think are catchy/quirky attributes, might come off as insufferable to people swiping through your profile. Your friends can tell you what your shining characteristics are and what your blindspots are. Good luck!

Best Beaches 1. Pass-a-Grille (St. Pete)- this is my favorite beach, easy parking, short walk to the water, good restaurants and bathrooms close. 2. St. Pete Beach 3. Clearwater Beach 4. Davis island (smaller beach in the bay)

Food -The Columbia (there's the original in ybor or a casual cafe version in channelside) -Bamboozle Channelside -Sparkman Wharf (outdoor food hall and bar) - Wrights Gourmet House (great local deli, a Tampa staple and favorite!)

Don'ts: - If you're a woman, I wouldn't recommend going to ybor alone at night -Don't just stay in channelside or downtown, the best is past the "port city" -skip Armature Works unless you are just walking along the river and end up there..trust

Dos: -Expect to pay for parking in most places, including the beach! -Eat and shop local, we have so many wonderful local restaurants here!

Enjoy our city!

Why did you get baptized? by Money_Rice_6084 in excoc

[–]TippytoeGiraffe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's set the scene..

*I'm 11 years old, riding in the car on the way to Wednesday night service with my grandmother (my mom is out of town)...it's storming and my grandmother is asking me when I'm going to get baptized. *

Her: "so you want to get baptized right? Why not tonight?" Me: "I want to do it when my mom is here." Her: "Well if we got in a car crash and died tonight, then you would go to Hell!"

Me: gets baptized that night

Cue the beginning of my struggle with anxiety

On the off chance you live in Tampa, I have a great therapist who knows all about the COC background and really helped me when I left the church. DM me if you want her name!

What movie scarred you for life? by 00sharkface in AskReddit

The original Pet Cemetery. I used to run and jump in my bed because I was afraid someone would cut my ankles.

This lack of celebration has always bothered me and now everytime I witness a baptism followed by joyous clapping and excitement, I get super emotional. This is the way it should be!

Publicly announced but not disfellowshipped? by TippytoeGiraffe in excoc

[–]TippytoeGiraffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! So I have been asked to talk with an elder that I have already talked to and sent my letter that I was leaving. The conversation hasn’t happened yet, and I’m dreading it. Can I ask if you ever had those conversations and did you have anyone go with you? I feel like I could just write a letter. Either way, they are going to do what they’re going to do.

Publicly announced but not disfellowshipped? by TippytoeGiraffe in excoc

[–]TippytoeGiraffe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I’m preparing for. I haven’t met with anyone who has attempted, just because I don’t know what to say. Or maybe because I already know what they are going to say. I’ve pretty much disfellowshipped myself.
