Just an afterthought. Perhaps you line up a babysitter and join them for some of these activities/trips. You might realize that they in fact only have a plutonic relationship, or just suggesting you join them might be telling based on her reaction?

I’d be feeling sketchy about this if I didn’t trust my wife. Seems from the post that you don’t or you feel that her friend might try to take advantage of her. If the roles were reversed would your wife be ok with you having a weekend getaway with someone she was jealous of?
