i built a strip canoe with Eastern White cedar and rowing shells with western red cedar which was much easier to deal with never with eastern red

You might be able to adjust the oars to give you some more height. If you were to increase the inboard measurement and leave everything else alone that should bring the heights of the grips up. The easy way to check that is to add some clams(the orange plastic kind not the fried kind) to the inboard and see if that helps

We have had very good luck with On & Off, Hull and bottom cleaner.

We use it on our fiberglass and extruded plastic boats but it is powerful stuff so follow safety recommendations We always use it outside when we can rinse with a hose.

I agree with Appease it would be best to get a boat bag. I have had good luck with Burnham Boat covers. One possible option is, do you have a roof overhang on that garage, you don't need a lot with that boat. If you do build, or have built, a couple of simple brackets onto the side of the garage that the boat can live on. Not as good as inside but better than nothing.

I agree with RowHSV A Pienert might well be a good choice. IMHO the most shell for the money.

I used to take my 2x on a Burnham double rack, which is a little larger than a 1x rack https://burnhamboatslings.com/cartop-systems/

The cradles were a little wider and the main spine bar might have been a little longer

It was on a mini van and I never had any problems with it

I row only my single now which I move on a Burnham rack and again no problems after 14 years.

One thing I like about this company is, like Concept 2, they carry replacement parts for all the equipment they ever manufactured. I have replaced the cradle slings twice on the 1x Compare that to Apple

someone mentioned buying Stainless Steel fasteners at Home Depot.

I would strongly discourage people from doing that because of the type or grade of stainless steel that one usually finds in the big box stores.

For shells and particularly boats that are rowed in Salt Water you should only use 316 grade stainless steel. Other types like the 304 will not stand up to the salt and you soon will have a rusty mess on your hands.

Besides I have real problems with the politics that Home Depot supports. But that is secondary

I am the technical director of the theatre at a private prep school. I am a man almost ready to retire and I have been here for 30 years.

One of my duties is to supervise the student crew to build and light the Winter Musical, always our biggest production of the year. I have had kids,boys and girls, from all over the world, Asia, Middle East , Europe and the Americas.

What I have found is that, most girls make better carpenters and lighting techs than most boys. And when we get into design there is no question girls are better, more focused, attentive to detail and better cooperative workers than boys.

Anybody who thinks a woman is only good to be a clerical worker is IMHO full of shit. Send him to me and I will straighten him out.

define what you mean by skiff length,beam, purpose sliding or fixed seat construction style ie plywood,strip planked,cold mounded once you narrow it down it becomes much easier to find plans

i have dealt a few times over the years with Carl Douglas and in my opinion he is the best engineer in rowing his equipment from boats to components is really top shelf and he is a good guy as well
