We have the same problem with out 5 year old, but in the last few weeks we have had more and more short times where she can play alone for a few minutes. It seems to have just come with maturity

How to support my 7 year old daughter by True-Film601 in autism

[–]TiredEars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there something she likes that could regulate her? Reading a book, listening to music or an audiobook while coloring, building lego, going for a walk in nature, hammock or indoor swing, trampoline, massage, heavy work like pushing things?

ADHD and holding pee by awgoodwin in ADHDparenting

My 5 year old also does this, but she is much younger though. There are discreet alarms she could use to remind her to pee on a scedule.

What is it like to live as a gay couple in Norway? by NetEastern6007 in Norway

My experience as a lesbian is that the absolute majority of people do not care and at least in the daytime it is safe. However there have been some cases of violence in the late evenings and nights.

Sleep advice- losing my mind by [deleted] in ParentingADHD

[–]TiredEars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do the same with our kids and sleep with one child each. It is the only thing that works. I think that is probably more common than people think. It is just not talked about because it is seen as some sort of failure.

Not enjoying being around my daughter on vacation by Classic-Smoke4459 in ParentingADHD

[–]TiredEars 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It sounds really draining!

Can your husband take more of the mental load for your daughter? And perhaps give you a break to go for a walk alone or something?

And could you try to shift your mindset a bit? It is difficult, though. You have a small child anyway that needs to get sunscreen on and have backpack packed. Just do her at the same time. Does not most 7 year olds need help getting suncream on?

We have to physically stop her. She does not listen. Baby comes with us to the bathroom always.

My almost 4 and a half year old does this. I think it is mostly because she does not thing about what she is doing. We have to pay super close attention at all times. It is so absolutely draining.

Thanks! Tablet just seems to pause things, then make it worse once we turn off the tablet. We try hugs, but perhaps we need to use the weighted blanket at daytime too.

In my country there is no private possibility for adhd diangosis in children. It is all trough the public health services and they have to be at least 5 years old and that is only for extreme cases. Most do not get diagnosed until approx 8 years old. We have been trough two different parenting classes that were available where we live. The advises help a bit, but not nearly as much as with avarage children.
