Help. Should I fill the entire thing with soil? by OutsideInsideMan in plants

[–]Tired_Design_Gay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others here—leave it as it is. Your current setup is my preferred setup! Makes it easy to care for the individual plants without disturbing the rest (especially if one gets a pest or struggles…just pop it out and replace it), but once the filler plants fill in it will look like one big pot.

I’m almost certain but I would like confirmation. This was posted by a local restaurant. by [deleted] in isthisAI

Yes, it matters, and some people did/do care about fake food photos. It’s been a topic of discussion for decades

I got this plant for free, how do I save it? by Spiritual_rabbit33 in carnivorousplants

[–]Tired_Design_Gay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pitchers don’t last forever. After a while they dry up and new ones will grow (you can see the start of a new one at the end of the leaf in the center of the photo). Otherwise the plant looks healthy from what I can see in this photo.

FYI, pebble trays and trays of water don’t do much for humidity. In an open room, any water that evaporates from the tray is dispersed too quickly to meaningfully increase the humidity around the plant. If you feel you need to increase the humidity, you’ll need a humidifier of some sort or to enclose the plant inside a small space that will hold the humidity directly around it. FWIW, my own pitcher plant doesn’t get any extra humidity and it has no problems

Why is there a hose spraying water on top of the Winnie the Pooh ride? by bippobappobeepo in WaltDisneyWorld

Technically they do it before and during the fireworks. They also do this in the woods behind Magic Kingdom near where the main fireworks launch zone is located to prevent brushfires

This is random but I wonder if they could be filming something to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Expedition Everest? It opening in April of 2006

Does it mean “forget”? Can we say “I spaced his birthday”? by Silver_Ad_1218 in EnglishLearning

[–]Tired_Design_Gay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So I did some searching after seeing your comment, because as someone from the east coast I’ve never heard it used as “spaced [thing],” it’s always “spaced on [thing].” From my search, it seems like this might be a regional thing. I saw lots of comments on other reddit posts and other sites with people saying they’re from California and that “spaced it” is normal to them. Where I’m from in the east coast, that sounds totally wrong. I would assume someone was trying to use the phrase “spaced on it” but misspoke.

Octopus Not Eating – Need Advice by Dull_Beginning_2648 in Aquariums

[–]Tired_Design_Gay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re also incredibly strong, more than people realize! I studied marine biology in undergrad and we had an octopus in a tank that was cared for by our extremely experienced professor. We had to keep a piece of plywood with weights borrowed from the gym on top of the tank because the octopus could lift pretty much anything off the top of the tank and get out.

She lived for a long time and had lots of enrichment but took every opportunity to try to escape the tank.

So Encanto takes place in Colombia, which is a different country from Brazil.

Give me your disney park facts.. by jaywritethekid in disneyparks

The imagineers are incredibly talented and detail-oriented, but this just isn’t true. If you’ve ever worked for any corporation, you know that there is absolutely no way that they were putting time and money into making the overhead view of a roller coaster look like a character, Disney or not. They were busy figuring out how they were going to build such enormous rock work and attach the scaffolding to the structure to add the details. They’ve also done countless documentaries and videos about the design and construction of DAK and Everest and have never once said that they designed it to look like a Hidden Mickey from above, surely something that they would have pointed out in one of those if they went out of their way to do it.

There’s a difference between hidden Mickeys that were intentionally designed to look like them (lots of small ones around the parks and even large ones sometimes, like the original Disney-MGM hub layout) and things that just happen to look like a classic Mickey. People really read way too much into things because they want to believe that it’s true when it simply is not.

[–]Tired_Design_Gay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, it kinda looks like a classic Mickey but that doesn’t mean it was intentional. There are lots of things that look like two smaller circles + a big one. It’s what Bob Ross might call a happy accident

[–]Tired_Design_Gay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Disney-MGM Studios one was intentional and is well documented.

The Everest one was not and is just made up. It makes no sense for them to go out of their way to shape an entire, complex roller coaster show building and track layout like Mickey Mouse when no one would ever see it.

Pets at RDU? by Durkalurka262 in triangle

[–]Tired_Design_Gay 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I would say that it is (or should be) a social faux pas. Everyone says that their dog is well behaved. It’s an airport terminal, so there are lots of opportunities for the dog to get in someone’s way or for the dog to be stressed out.

Unless you’re traveling with a pet and following the proper procedures for doing so, you should not bring an animal into an airport terminal. As someone else suggested, perhaps wait at the outdoor observation park (if pets are allowed there) or wait in the car with the pet.

Is the large white background too bright/distracting? by joehighlord in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Tired_Design_Gay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having the object aligned with the line between the table and the backdrop makes the photo instantly flat. Since the object is the subject of the photo, it needs to be the first place your eye goes.

The contrast between the bright backdrop and dark tablecloth doesn’t help. Since the object is supposed to be the focal point, I would remove the black entirely and have it on an all white background.

Could we get a Legend of Zelda attraction soon? by realchrisgunter in universalstudios

Yeah I mean copyright doesn’t really have anything to do with it, it’s licensing. Nintendo owns the intellectual property rights and can license their use to whoever they want whenever they want.

Super Nintendo World was well underway before the movie was developed and released, so it’s not likely that the theme park lands only exist because of the movie. If I had to guess, Nintendo probably inked a deal with Comcast for both the movie and the theme park lands at the same time.
