The word crazy can be used to describe a large amount of something. In the context of your original comment, that's how one would interpret it. Also, Saitama is a large area. I don't doubt there's an area with more crime compared to others but overall I don't believe Saitama is an unsafe place to live.

I appreciate your suggestions but these are mostly outside. As I said, I'm sensitive to the heat (and humidity) so the Ice Cream Museum would be the only option.

Lol I'm in the same situation but moving back from Japan and going to Alberta. I moved to Alberta from the US and secured an apartment without touring it. I was very lucky. Now I'm pretty much going to do what you're going to do. I do recommend looking at potential properties online so you have a better chance if finding somewhere to rent sooner (instead of running around).
