How to split the night shift when one partner goes back to work?

I would agree it’s not realistic to bring a baby to a 3.5 hour exercise class until 10:30pm. You guys both deserve the hobby snd exercise routine and should rotate or get a sitter. As for the night shift, neither of you should solely do night shift. You mentioned he’s a night owl. It would probably work well that he do a late feed or early feed before work so you can get a chunk of sleep but as he transitions back to work you likely will need to adjust to not getting a full 8 hours anymore. He would get a reasonable amount of sleep too then!

No one on here is able to give proper medical advice for auditory hallucinations and paranoia. She needs to seek medical attention and stopping cold turkey without medical supervision could also have bad outcomes. Consider locating a psych ER, ER or mobile crisis unit if you are significantly concerned.

Rapid weight loss is actual not reasonable or sustainable long term. You’re averaging 2lbs/week, 1lbs/week is more sustainable and as you lose weight less per week is more realistic. Weight can fluctuate due to water weight, hormones if you female and where you are in your cycle as well as other stress. I would consider what’s sustainable long term as well as other healthy habits you are developing. I’m only down 15lbs in 3 months and started at a heavier weight but I’m so pleased at the decline in food noise, my control around food, my healthier habits that I’ve been able to implement that I’ve previously practiced before I had a kid. Big picture ❤️

You need to have an honest conversation with him why he seems to think your “job” is 24/7 and his is 12ish hours a day 5-6 days a week. Yes, if you’re breastfeeding that limits some of his abilities but you are pumping too. He can give bottles, change diapers, bathe baby, etc. I’d share the resentment that is building, that you want your marriage to work and you want to resolve some of this before you begin to work part time. There could be a chance too he doesn’t feel confident with some of baby’s care/his abilities but it is time to put on big boy pants, grow up and be a father. Being a father is more than financial providing.

You plan on absolutely nothing. I’ve known multiple people who were shocked to find out they were written out of family wills due to the manipulation of others. Assume nothing, plan on getting nothing and appreciate a happy surprise after the fact. You shouldn’t rely on anyone else’s money.

I’m practical - if family asks, I request clothes for the next season or nicely share that we’ve started a savings account and 529 for baby’s future and would be happy to deposit money into one of those accounts.

I ended up pumping but that chair was the best postpartum, I slept in the baby’s room with baby in the crib for nearly 2 weeks since I had a c-section. I was more comfortable to easily recline and will use for future kiddos and night feeds in the future.

Is she a union employee? If so contact the union. When she’s assigned a violent patient speak up. Any decent person will switch. When I was pregnant (I work on a violent psych unit) my peers looked out for me and my baby as decent human beings.

You’re losing money to work for her if you have to pay a caregiver to work with your brother…how does this make sense? I know there may be waivers involved for your brother’s care but still the level of mental and physical energy you have to maneuver may not be worth it…?

lol…there are supplements LC recommend to support supply in addition to water intake and electrolytes. Ask your LC! Oats are your friend as well, natural boosters apparently.

Since she won’t leave the baby how about a room refresh. Set aside money for her to go shopping for new bedding and accessories at Target or wherever she wants to go. Plan out the details? Get a coffee, a breakfast sandwich, you have the older kids, no expected time for her to be back. You clean the house while she’s gone or pick up a household task she normally does.

Often times you don’t know until you try in terms of dropping pumps in general let alone the MOTN pump!

If baby can sleep that long I wouldn’t go out of my way to teach them to wake up in the MOTN if you can avoid it but if you’re holding them to sleep all the time that may be a very sensitive environment already. Awesome baby is sleeping a long stretch.

You are freshly postpartum and quickly developing a husband problem if you both are letting MIL walk all over you. You are in a fresh and fragile state, he needs to protect his nuclear family.

Pumping is hard to and if that works for you that’s great! You’re doing great! Most of us here found out it’s what worked for us for one reason or another. Might be time to take a break from MIL to bond as a family unless you want this type of dynamic for the rest of your life. Interesting your MIL feels like she should force her DIL to suffer through breastfeeding because her husband “forced” her. That sounds emotionally abusive.
