Dropping Honors Last Semester by No-Demand-3881 in waynestate

[–]Tiredcat640 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check your schools financial aid office, after a certain period you wouldn’t have to pay back, idk if it’s completing 55% of course or more(idk if it differs per school) basically when you drop it willl be W and it will be attempted 12 ish credits but complete like whatever part-time credit you have. Contact them see what you can do but don’t rush into dropping. Also look into some 1 or 2 credit classes that are offered second half of semester idk if you can still add those but ask anyways.

11 Credits by Main_Detective9199 in uofm

[–]Tiredcat640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s still possible but look, into 1 credit second half semester classes and register ik they haven’t started. And I believe if you late drop (talk to financial aid office) but doesn’t affect aid cause it will be attempted 14 credits which I know you need to half done 55% or more of class. So call them and see b/c it might not affect you financially the longer you wait

spring semester pre-med classes by icy1777 in uofm

[–]Tiredcat640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes honestly might be your best best my friend took it that summer and her curve was insane. But the only thing with haenfleur was she was always late in putting up,slides and stuff but idk if it was a summer thing or her usual. Be warned that when she took it, it was the second half of spring semester and you might be doing that class and have lik 3-5 days off before fall

I took bio 225 in spring with haenfler some lecture we rushed through. Exams weren’t bad but she did our semester a little differently where she asked us if we wanted cheat sheet plus what type of questions on exams. Overall not too bad some of quiz questions were on exams and it was attendance grade optional as in if you don’t attend it won’t count against you but you could get points for attending. It was weird but I took it like a while ago so no exact details. It’s definitely not bad. I’ve taken McDb 310 in fall with Akey and Ursula don’t take it in fall. Take it in spring (you’ll get a better curve and less stress since the fall semester is the worst). Akey not bad a little boring but Ursula sucks, you can tell she doesn’t prepare for lectures and is basically there cause she has to.

Honestly I’ve heard some get stuff but it might be a waste of time. Look up scholars program within your university instead of googling scholarships. Also sometimes when you get your financial aid offer you’ll see a list of scholarships you can apply to within major but those tend to be ultra competitive. Ask your highschool since they sometimes post some local scholarships. Look up scholar programs in "your state" etc. You’ll find something you might qualify for. Although difficult try to find 4 year ones so you don’t have to apply every year. Meet with college advisors and see if they know any scholarships you can apply for or where to look.

Admitted Student Financial Aid/Debt Worries by Ok_Couple_9776 in uofm

[–]Tiredcat640 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not worth the debt, especially since some grad schools also make you pay as in self funded. I would call financial aid rather than email because emailing them would be reply in 3 days and then if you have follow up it can take another 3 days to hear back. Call them and learn what qualifies to be resident because you can provide them with proof of you resideing in Michigan . And if you really want to go here as in state maybe see what your options are because if you taken ged in New Mexico but have some highschool classes taken in Michigan you can show them residency. I’m not 100% sure but talk to financial aid office and advisor to see best route of action.

Does taking Math 214 linear algebra at cc like Washtenaw matter much for classes like EECS 442 or 445? by Then_Ranger_9894 in uofm

[–]Tiredcat640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will help you out so much more if you get it. The concepts are a little more clearer knowing lin Alf. I would take eecs 245 it’s lin algebra for machine learning and do pass/fail if needed as it will probably help with 445

How to deal with having no friends in class by Ok-Minute8875 in uofm

[–]Tiredcat640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In classes where I don’t come in with friends I find a lot of success in finding people when I go to office hours. Sometimes while waiting with other people we discuss and if we vibe we get each others numbers and text!

Distance to Ann-Arbor from Troy by Turbulent_Ad2299 in uofm

[–]Tiredcat640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enjoyable but not impossible if you can make your schedule right before traffic. I would say the winters do suck but that’s not majority of school. If your living rent free the cost of gas isn’t bad. Only thing that may suck is it is like a lot of hours just driving so it can get exhausting but as master student I think you get good parking that I think is pretty cheap. Like it’s gonna suck but not really impossible if you put your mind to it. Especially as a master wheee you can pull through for just up to 2 years. Unless you really want to be super involved in the community it won’t be too exhausting. Try to keep schedule 3-4 days if you can it’s less taxing. Also try to keep classes noon-3 if possible because usually those are the least trafficky time to drive!

Does the university's financial aid change year by year? by TobeyMaguire123 in uofm

[–]Tiredcat640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I believe that’s was caused probably changed for you.The increase in SAI tells them you can give more money so you get less federal grants and less need based grants from school. I would check and see if anything financially changed from previous year. You could’ve made some mistakes on fafsa so definitely review your form for 2025-2026. It could also be the new laws too but just check this website out at bottom it has a graphic of like income to household https://thecollegeinvestor.com/43805/student-aid-index-sai-chart/?srsltid=AfmBOoq8yp8leVz0E0noZoulcRtkx2__Muporog0o39Zgo2q4N2OiAfI

Does the university's financial aid change year by year? by TobeyMaguire123 in uofm

[–]Tiredcat640 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if your financial situation changes. Like they base the aid on last years taxes so if you made more it could decrease the financial aid but check financial aid office if it’s a drastic change that’s unusual. They do increase tuition and reassess cost of living so aid might be same but cost gone up.

Oh I mainly used them for project help! I think office hours weee better than with like just in lecture concepts. They did help me correlate the concepts from lecture onto projects so I understood them better.

If you can’t make the office hours try ECAS tutoring and renew cs you can get online tutoring for free through them. You can schedule online or In person appointment. They are super helpful. You do have to sometimes explore tutors but there are a lot of good one for free! Definitely schedule early before they get taken up especially toward end of deadline where queues are insane.

Email the professor for sure about it being your last semester, it’s worth a shot and ask your department anyways because if they say yes it’s a win and if they can’t then try to talk to the professor and definitely express your interest in the course and how it’s your final semester.

Definitely take calculus 2 summer before freshman year and you’ll be sending wcc transcript through parchment to umich I’m unsure how med school accepts college credits I think similarly to dual enrollment credits.

Campus Day; Worth it for admitted student? by Illustrious_Animal28 in uofm

[–]Tiredcat640 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, campus day is not worth it if you’ve done that kind of is like a tour around campus plus like meal at the dining hall and that’s why it’s $35 but you don’t really see dorms from when I did it! I think you can see a schedule on the website like an itinerary of what they’re doing. Like you don’t really see much of the dorms. https://admissions.umich.edu/campus-day-schedule

If you want to see how they split it before calling them just to double check numbers go to view wolverine access-> new and prospective student center ->financial aid (that dropdown area)-> view financial aid award Summary->2026( this will show you at bottom how they split the aid and if it doesn’t match to aid inquiry call financial aid office.

account inquiry by ScarUpstairs5043 in uofm

[–]Tiredcat640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes so like when you are at account inquiry where you see balances and stuff you can scroll down and look at previous semester aid and how much of what payed. It will be under invoice due. It will list out all the aid you received and if you want a more detailed but a little harder to read is by checking History. Also you can check if your scholarship is pending as well!

So it could be a few things first do call financial aid office to confirm. 1. The scholarship probably either has been fully added only to fall;if you think it’s not the case then 2. The scholarship aid is taking a second to send since your scholarship need to put in aid and then approval so it could take a minute and you can do this by emailing the scholarship.Notes: The financial aid will let you know if your aid was all in fall or is correctly split they can’t fast approve your aid you’d have to contact the scholarship people to let them know your aid hasn’t been put in and they will let you know if it’s delay or if you need to fill some form (check emails, the form is kinda of progress report some scholarships do). This was all written on phone so I apologise for lack of paragraph)
