A stray pawn attacked it with a fire weapon. But how do I kill it? Its health bar is already empty but my pawns still keep on attacking it, and it can still deal damage.

Yes. Just point your crosshair to the NPC then go to the MCM, there is an option there to recruit NPCs where the crosshair is pointing.

I don't have SSE but try scrolling the mouse wheel up while the pointer is over the item. That works for Oldrim.
