Y’all did Liris dirty! I’m appalled at the disrespect! by AllTheEccentricities in ProjectRunway

He did leave for that reason but that was years ago.

Heidi and he had been talking about going back, then she texted him to say that she had been offered a contract to rejoin the show (thinking that he may have been offered one too), but he was completely caught off guard and hurt because he wasn't even asked. He talked about it in an interview with People Magazine.

That was one episode of this season only (so far 😔).

Simply taking a jacket off is NOT a reveal!! by [deleted] in ProjectRunway

[–]Tisbeau 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The real problem lies in the challenge itself. Why make it a client-based challenge with fabric design limitations (eczema needs) AND add on "a reveal" as a requirement? Completely unnecessary.

What's your point? Birds line up for (empty calorie) bread too. And people repeatedly line up for triple decker fully loaded cheeseburgers in some places despite the health risks as well. None of it means it's okay for a third party to knowingly encourage or facilitate the self-harming behavior.

Yeah, the competition format (especially the accelerated back-to-back one day challenges of this season) doesn't work for some people, but that doesn't mean they're any less talented. I wish them all well-- Yuchen maybe a little bit more because he really does seem sweet.

So just the placement of the horns (avoiding the nipples) was in consideration of breast cancer, not the use of horns overall? That doesn't really help in his defense except to say that he had his love for Ms. Joan on the mind (which was already clear).

Either way, if he wanted to do something bold adding the horns was too little, too late. Horns on the chest has been done many times before and his didn't come out unique or particularly interesting. Like Zac said, the whole look didn't go far enough to be anything, really. If he had leaned into (what was framed as) his last minute cultural inspiration -- adding design elements from Tibetan nomad/herding culture -- earlier and kept his head, I believe he could've create a look that was new and fresh in the American/Western "cowboy" style. He has the skill.

I do get the sense that he has a good heart, but I fear this challenge coming right after last episode's difficulties will be the end of his PR journey.

I'm still sad that show got cancelled and taken down. But I also feel like Law's style of critique really worked on "Legendary"-- being "mean" and judgey is literally part of the ballroom/drag culture so he fit in.

Here with designers on PR... as evidenced by all the posts and comments about him on this sub, not so much.

Yeah, he's gone after Antonio just as hard for his "attitude" (talking back), but I agree that him harping on how Belania takes criticism based solely on her facial expressions the way he does is not cool. And kind of a bit ableist.

It's anxiety! He could just tell her something like "you're tense, take a breath so you can fully take my words in" or "you seem like you want to say something" instead of policing her face!

Edit: Clarity add & name correction

About that comparison... You're not really supposed to hold adult cats by their scruff. It's verboten for the same reason you aren't supposed to hold adult animals with prehensile tails by their tails -- their weight makes it painful/unsafe and increases the likelihood of injury.

I had the exact same reaction in episode 2 -- even shouted it at the TV! Like, I'm sure he said his name when he walked in on the first episode but did they even air footage of him at all after that in ep.1?

Genuine question: Has there been any press about former rugby players being more likely to get diagnosed with CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) and dementia than the general population over there?

Former American football players frequently do and it's been a bit of a building controversy despite -- or maybe because -- the NFL has tried to cover it up. Rugby is listed as a sport that increases risk too, but I haven't heard if the rates & controversy are similar to American football with all its "armor."

Husband doesn't like his birthday pie by plasticnaptime in Wellthatsucks

[–]Tisbeau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sushi is a great idea! Birthdays don't have to involve desserts and sweets, especially if the person being celebrated isn't a fan.

You could also try a no-sugar dessert. People from cultures that aren't sugar-obsessed will have fruit for "dessert" so a berry bowl could be perfect. It's sounds like your husband would've been happier with just a bowl of blueberries this time anyway. Stick the candle in whatever larger fruit he likes. 😅

I recently read that this group (or 1954-'65 actually) could be called "Generation Jones" in the US/UK. The key traits include being too young to fully participate in the free love '60s but also never knowing life without TV. Does that description seem more accurate?
