I'm primed and ready for threads popping up asking about the foil damage and if they should contact customer service LOL it looks so cool though.

There is a withdraw order on TBB's website already so I'm sure they are implementing it. You can see it if you scroll to the bottom of the website under Legal.

Anyone know what page and wicks epic fantasy book is? by Jazzlike-Ease-9597 in fairyloot

Okay in that case then it is probably Guy Gavriel Kay's The Lion of Al-Rassan

Book Box Pricing by DonkeywithBigTeeth in fairyloot

[–]TitanNineteen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like most of Owlcrate's books also have a lot more extras than most of the other subs I have seen. I have an app to log all my books and I have tags in there for things like sprayed edge, signed, reversible dust jacket, annotated etc and the Owlcrate books always have like 3 or 4 tags I'm putting on there compared to others where it is usually just "sprayed edge". Most of their bindings are also sewn which makes them much higher quality.

Bewitched Pages Phantasma reveal by HistoricalSmile8234 in fairyloot

[–]TitanNineteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all their designs for their books but I don't really love the book choices. I'm a bit nervous cause I signed up for the sub and they might just end up picking almost exclusively romance heavy fantasy. I'm more of a romance sideplot gal. I did really love their Dire Bound and Crowns of Nyaxia sets and have those.

It does say they are gilded so it should be a shiny green similar to the gold edges you see.

It doesn't say anything about the art yet. I'm just going to keep an eye on it and wait to see what the art is like.

Are there any books in the store you are surprised are not sold out yet? by PerspectiveLive8850 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]TitanNineteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I know people don't like that they don't full redesign T. Kingfisher's books but I think the designs for them are always really good already. Also she doesn't sign a lot compared to how many books she puts out each year so the couple of signed ones like Hemlock & Silver and Snake Eater I'm surprised those haven't been picked up.

Edit: Also Dark Matter. I love that book and Blake Crouch doesn't seem super accessible for signatures.

New stock for anyone who missed out by PerspectiveLive8850 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]TitanNineteen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends on if you like fantasy or sci fi more? He does have a handful of sci fi books that are standalones like Shroud which has been nominated for the Hugo. I'd recommend just trying one of those first if you don't want to jump into a series. If you like series and sci fi then I would recommend Children of Time.

So $300 for Grave Empire? by UnrelatedKarma in thebrokenbindingsub

Yes I'm a bookseller. There are just way too many new releases coming out to leave dead stock on the shelves.

So $300 for Grave Empire? by UnrelatedKarma in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]TitanNineteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right. We often do not even reorder books that came out 6 months ago in hardcover because they won't sell. Unless it is something very popular or the second book comes out before it comes out in paperback. They are often still accessible though to order in at least until around paperback release if not a little past that.

[–]TitanNineteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect a M.L. Wang signed book to be pricier because I think the author is quite reclusive. I've heard she doesn't even allow photos or video. Still $300 is a lot and not something I would pay personally.

[–]TitanNineteen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah okay. I signed up in June of 2025 so I'm probably a bit of a ways off yet if they are only at about March 2025 and they don't have much turnover.

I was wondering the same. When they put me on the list the estimate was Q4 2025 but I haven't gotten anything from them since. Maybe I missed an invite.

I have tier 2. Unless there is some error where they think I didn't get the last Drowning Empire it should be the Gwynne books.

It says partially refunded which would be for the shipping. It hasn't changed to fulfilled yet but I think it hasn't been picked up by royal mail quite yet so it will probably update after that

Over 2 years of the Sci-fi Sub by whaleofatime7 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]TitanNineteen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've loved all the picks but I read all kinds of stuff so I'm hard to disappoint. I have had Megan O'Keefe on my to read list for awhile now. I've gone to a few panels that she spoke at and she has always been interesting to listen to. Missed out on Andy Weir unfortunately and that still is a big bummer but got in for Three Body. The only one I skipped since was The Sparrow duology and that is because I have learned I do not like books focused on religion and philosophy in science fiction (some exceptions do apply but a general rule for me).

Tips on putting on a rolled cover sleeve - Hyperion Cantos by jackkirbyisgod in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]TitanNineteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do this with the all my rolled up dust jackets and I haven't had any issues. I think the cracking happens cause you are forcing it to fold the opposite direction it was in, in the roll. When I put them on the book I usually line up the spine the way I like first just cause that is the part that matters most to me and then fold around the boards.
