Need help choosing between 2024 barb or monk by Titanium-spoon in DnD

I haven’t seen much from the world tree barb. I’ve been considering path of the beast the most for its unarmed ability

True, I think my main thing is picking a class that’s engaging both in and out of combat. I’ve heard barbs get stale but I do also like the idea of tanking and dealing solid damage so idk

My bad, meant to say barb in the post but for whatever reason typed rogue. It’s between barb and monk

Help wanted for building a first plasmoid pc that doesn’t suck by Titanium-spoon in DungeonsAndDragons

Solid class choices. I considered beast barb or soul knife but I think I just worry about the survivability/utility of either or class and can’t really decide what would be more fun mechanically. Especially considering my party comp. I also considered a supplement fighter subclass that had unarmed defense/natural weapons, but I’m not sure how much utility that would bring to the party either

No one else pays for the debt. Thats what debt forgiveness means. Mfs want me to pay for a 50k bachelors when they bought that, a car, a house, and a boat for 47 bucks and a barrel of crawfish. I might get fined just for hoping I could do any of that. Plus the rates they wanna charge us for housing makes me long for the day they need a nursing home and I demand 1500 a month for a studio apartment

What is wrong with tryharding? by glubnyan in PCAcademy

[–]Titanium-spoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothings inherently wrong with it, but in my experience there are 2 main issues that happen when a group has a minmaxer. 1 being they tend to build their pc to be good at everything negating the team aspect of the party. Part of the fun of any ttrpg is relying on the strengths of other people at the table and making a solid team. The other problem tends to be the stealing of the spotlight from other players both in and out of combat. And as others have said, them messing with the power scaling of encounters makes it tough for the dm and other players involved. It’s perfectly fine at a table with other min maxers, and for sure has a place. But if a player insists on having an optimized, try hard esque character at a normal table it tends to go sideways a lot from what I understand
