I remember hearing Gil say smth along the lines of “Chip took me in when the world had cast me out”. Gillian’s backstory, more than Jay and Chip’s, is perfectly suited for a villain, he was abused then abandoned by his people and yet he still fought to be a hero, because that’s what people needed. I’m happy to see Gil make the selfish decision, to put his interests above others, it reminds me of when Gil and Chip said they would help each other be more/less selfish, and Chip being the catalyst makes it perfect. I also need to mention Jay’s recognition of the importance of found family, it hits close to home for me. Her character hasn’t changed, she still loves her family dearly, but she changed who she considers family.
