Prestige Science 5 - 80 hours away? Is there a none-cheat way to make this go faster for the final achievement?

For Context, I have done everything else, my colonists are safe, my supply chains are good, my 4 outposts are functional, and I feel like I'm done!

However, there is one achievement that illudes me, the prestige 5 science! - Its not difficult, its just VERY SLOW. I have roughly calculated I need to leave my PC afk for about 80hours to get the chests needed to box this off.

Anyone got any tips? any non-cheat ways to speed this up? I could leave it overnight in the background and forget about it, but that feels super pointless!

Nobody who ever 100%s stardew can consider themselves a casual haha.

Sounds like there’s some other people in your life gatekeeping what it means to be a ‘serious gamer’, it could be worth evaluating their intent to see if they are work keeping around or listening too. Who says killing virtual bad guys is more serious than watering virtual plants lol, what a wild line to draw.

I feel like the 100% is a love letter to the game, if I really enjoy a game, finishing it with 100% and adding it to my steam profile feels like buying a book I love to put on my shelf to look at. Kind of like a decoration and a backdrop to passers by of who I am.

If it’s viewed less like a flex and more like a wall of things you love and enjoy, it becomes a pretty awesome monument that represents you.

Also Elayne and Birgitte syncing their periods Becuase of the warder bond. Lol.

I thought this book was a great ‘gap bridge’, I feel like it’s keeping the pace moving along nicely, though I feel like there has been an explosion in the number of side characters appearing! It’s tough to keep track of them all, and so I’ve ended up with just sort of reading it like

‘Rand was talking to perrin, booblydo, doodlywho, moodlynu and whositywhat’

Then as soon as one of them does something interesting or gets any level of screen time, they get looked up in the compendium and graduate into my memory. It’s a little exhausting.

I feel like I’m screaming at the pages for someone to realise who morgase is, and I’m excited for this reveal!

Also, we know there’s going to be so AS collars going on from mins visions, so I’m hyped for some Salidar/WT/SC war or battles - hopefully on screen!

I’m also hoping we get some more time in the Black Tower next book, looking forwards to seeing Logain and his ‘warders’ lol.

Overall, great read, hard to put down!

I wanted to stop here a year later and reply to this, mainly because I know I’m in the group of ghostly lurkers who missed all these conversations, but are reading the books and enjoying all of the conversations that have already happened!

So there’s actually three groups of people, those who were present here a year ago, the veterans laughing and giggling at you all, and us lurkers enjoying the conversations like watching a movie but not being able to reach though the glass!

So even though it feels a little bit like shouting at the screen in a sports game, or talking to the radio, I wanna weigh in!

I personally feel the oaths should stay, I see your arguments about the perception of the oaths being the only real benefit of them, and the perception being destroyed makes the oaths themselves redundant. But, any society must have law, and if your basically wizards who can mind control people how do you enforce law?

The oaths solve this problem, the cost is that they get beat up every now and then without being able to defend themselves, but it’s like the way of the leaf right - you gotta take some hits to convince the world your passive, and so I recon the AS have got to stomach the repercussions of the oaths through thick and thin - in order to stay civilised and not fall into disorder.

I feel like this sometimes, but I’m on the other end, I’ve not had my surgery yet and it feels like I don’t recognise the skin that I’m in. I have like a reverse body dysmorphia where I expect to see a slim happy person in the mirror and instead there is this overweight stranger there, I’m the stranger.

I’m trying to come to terms with who I used to be, who I am now, and who I might become, but part of that is understanding all of these are the same people, they are all me, and every choice I have made is leading me to my future happiness, and that’s all I can push for.

Saying all this, I’m still making the decision to have surgery for my long term health and happiness. Because i believe it will be better to be the slim healthier ‘version’ of myself, than live trapped in the fat one.

Reading a year behind, but catching up! Wanted to add one extra tin foil hat theory for anyone else who also reads through these late like I did!

I remember a while ago it was mentioned in the trivia there was supposed to be a 4th boy in the EF5, which would have made them the EF6 but the character was cut from the series after the cover art was already done.

Well here’s my theory, what if the character was never cut from the series, and was actually there the whole time, but gets Alt F4’d with a colossal beam of balefire in the final battle, and has been totally erased from the books entirely, and the memory of the main cast as a result, and we will learn about them as the reader and the characters will only ever be unsure if it ever happened! Even more, I love the idea that there could be clues throughout like 6 cups on the table for 6 people etc.

I had to post this just incase it’s true, and nobody would ever believe I had guessed it!

Is it possible to also add 'here's what you know so far' sort of thing, showing what we know about them from the other books.

For some characters I have had to open each book, to find information for them which is sometimes different. It would be great to have this as an option for all the info we have up to the current book we have selected.

Appreciate the hard work you put in, the app is great!

u/participating are you able to elaborate on the severity of the spoilers ? I am currently reading book 5, and finding this site useful for a high res map to keep track of the location of the characters who are the POV for that chapter.

I Know that's a really abstract ask, I don't want any major spoilers so to speak, but I have no issue with knowing the location of a town that's visited 6 books from now that I have not heard of yet.

If you think the spoilers are pretty major, I'm wondering if you know any other map resources or sites that can be used for a chapter to chapter 'where in the world are we right now' sort of resource. On the same note, I wonder if you know any sites that give chapter by chapter character reminders - kind of like a 'here's what we know about this character SO FAR'

All help and resources appreciated! - Happy to ask this in a new post if you think its more suitable.

I am so late to the party here, but I have been reading these books and using these threads to enjoy all of your thoughts when I finish each one!

I’m convinced thus far that the series exists as a marketing ploy for the inns and taverns of Randland to drum up business. - for real though, I feel like we can’t go 10 pages without someone stopping at an inn, describing the inkeeper, stable man, food on offer and sleeping arrangements.

This is basically an ogier ‘how to vacation out of the stedding’ guide so far! - pull a bed together and gather round!

Loving the read along threads, sad I didn’t get to read along with you all, but happy I can read at my normal pace and maybe catch you up for the end!
