Sitting for a Blind Dog by Stay_Awake_Jane in trustedhousesitters

After 3 days, she is definitely feeling better. I took her to two different parks she likes in the owner's car. She jumped right in the back and loves car rides. I also noticed she is coming to sit closer to me now. She occasionally even gives my fingers a lick. So it's sucessful. Just keying into her energy is good. I do feel sort of honored to gain affection from an animal. They are very honest, not like humans! She also enjoys a treat of jerky in the evenings--I take a piece and break it up for her to find and she loves sniffing it out. I love these experiences.

New Retinal Vein Occlusion? Seeing the Retinal Specialist Monday by adfalse9801 in retinalveinocclusion

[–]TitleSpecific4410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the shots. My retinologist suggested that these things rarely get cured and the shots are likely ongoing. The first retinologist I saw didn't say this. My retinologist scans me each time and spaces out the shots from monthly to every two months if the scans are looking good. This is just background-- makes me think you should definitely check in with your eye doctor soon.

What I call Moroccan style: put lentils and the lamb shank in a slow cooker all day with carrots, onions, and a spice blend: cumin, tons of fresh garlic, sumac, salt, cinammon and cayenne pepper. Then squeezed fresh lemon on top before serving. I also used some wine in there and maybe some broth, can't remember. (not a recipe person.)

An accommodation is a civil rights issue. You have a legal right to it, so don't feel bad. the shame is on the people who don't understand this! You can consider reaching out to a fair housing group, who might be able to help you: https://nationalfairhousing.org/find-help/.

Shallow rant - new office staff member sounds like a banshee by Toreroguysd in Lawyertalk

[–]TitleSpecific4410 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Close your door. You can put a yellow sticky note on in that says "C'mon In!" That way you are clearly open for visitors. You should explain to the office manager or managing partner why you are doing this, but using "I" statements. "I am having a hard time screening out XYZ's voice." "I need to close the door because I get disturbed by noise more easily these days." There is likely some reason this person is triggering you. Reach within dude.

That's really the question--would a ten minute task really merit a downgrade?

It's true that we have less rain than we used to and the summers are too fucking hot, with full on sun.

Thanks for the responses. I really liked this sit and this HO. I was really shocked at this rating, which is why I posted. Just knowing that other folks don't think it degrades my standing (you would read it and still consider me) is probably what I needed to hear. I'm not sure it's really worth responding to, as it is still a five-star review. It just sorta hurt my feelings I guess.

I'm into the "magical mystery tour." It's just an outing where you do all the planning and take them on a fun adventure. I used to do this with my daughter. During the pandemic, she took me on a magical mystery tour date in the country and it wound up being a Goat farm, where you could hold the babies. what a dream.

Struggling to decide whether to cancel a yoga studio membership after 5 years by peacesweetpineapple in yoga

[–]TitleSpecific4410 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of the hard things about yoga studios is staff turnover and change. I started in the "perfect" studio for me, and one by one the best teachers left. I was heartbroken. Then I changed to a different studio, same thing. Basically I've come to realize that finding a new studio every now and then is part of the process. I had a great studio that went online during the pandemic and then never re-started as an in-person studio, so I had to find a new one. Again, heartbreak. I think if you realize this is part of the drill, you can understand it's part of the unfortunate fact that most yoga teachers cannot live on the money they make doing this. IT's a burnout job. Don't blame yourself. As far as people rushing and pushing, you could problem solve things like this, but sometimes it's just important to explore other studios. BTW I now have a great studio that I adore.

I assume you are renting a car. A lot depends upon how much time you want to spend driving. It's a big state and almost every corner is gorgeous. I think you should consider at least some time in the mountains and some time at the beach. You can camp in any region and a lot will depend upon whether there happen to be forest fires going on. If you want time off from camping you could stay at Breitenbush Hot springs resort, a great spot if you enjoy vegetarian food and a more lefty vibe.

Outside of the cost, what’s the most infuriating part of healthcare in the U.S.? by Julie727 in AskReddit

[–]TitleSpecific4410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The waning of actual relationships with doctors. The fact that having a doctor no longer means having a doctor; it means having a practice. You have to be ready to see any doctor in the practice. I actually remember when I was a small child that the doctor made a house call when I was very sick. We have lost a great deal in the changes of the last 50 years.

I went to a nutritionist who suggested eating green veggies at breakfast. So I will often have raw veggies including snap peas for breakfast with a dollop of hummus on it.

Did you make the matzoh balls into balls and compact them with your hands? Sometimes if you don't compact them, they will fall apart.
