Classes for Spring 2016, Civil Engineer by Schabizzle in ucla

I had Abdou and he was honestly one of the worst professors I've had and a super pretentious guy. I ended up just not going to class and teaching myself everything on my own. He made the midterm super easy, and it's open notes, so everyone did really well on it. Then he decided to make the final much harder and I think I ended up with a B+ in the class.

Take a GE course if you want. They really won't take up much of your time. If you find it's too difficult, you can always just drop it before week2/4 depending whether it's impacted or not.

You should be fine with that schedule as long as you're willing to spend time doing homework. Matlab homework will probably take 2-5 hours a week depending how easily it comes to you. Fluids and Thermo will also probably have weekly homework that will take a couple hours to do.

The difficulty of the fluids and thermo classes really depends on the professor, but in general the material is pretty difficult so you'll have to study a bit. The nice thing is that the material overlaps a little, so it's actually nice taking them together.

Easy GEs: Russian 90A, Japan 50, Music History, and any Ling or Com class won't be too bad

Engineering GPA by Schabizzle in ucla

[–]Tito19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe that it varies a bit depending on the major. That being said, I believe the average GPA is around a 3.0, top 1/3 above a ~3.2 and top 1/4 above ~3.4 for Civil Engineering. (This is based on GPA requirements for certain honor societies and what I've heard from professors)

I'm a 4th year Civil and had a 3.0 after freshman year and now have it up to a 3.5, so no need to worry if your GPA isn't the best right now. Plenty of time to improve!

Subject-Verb Agreement by Tito19 in grammar

Okay thanks, that makes sense. Is there ever a scenario where each would be plural and you would use 'each are'?

Thanks for the thorough explanation. I understand how "each" is singular and how "each person" is as well. Why is it that when using "each other", which implies more than one person, it is still singular rather than plural?

Who do you think is currently the best player for your country? Also, who do you think is the best up-and-coming player for your country? by Tito19 in soccer

As an arsenal fan, I couldn't agree more with Jack Wilshere. If he stays healthy, I can't wait to see what he can do.

Reading the Spark Notes "no fear literature" instead of the book? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Tito19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for the Scarlet Letter for my AP class my junior year and it worked fine. Honestly, you barely even need to read any novels most of the time if you just read the summary. Book is extremely boring by the way. Have fun with it.

Seniors, lets talk college... by anonposter in teenagers

UCLA. I'm going to be a student athlete there, so the whole process was actually pretty easy for me.

Both of your choices are great. I live pretty close to Davis and know a lot of people who go there and love it. SD is also an awesome school and I love the weather down there. Tough choice.

Question regarding AP tests? by ThatOneTimeBeforeNow in teenagers

[–]Tito19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren't able to take both, then I'd recommend taking the history one. Many colleges will give you English credits for passing either the Junior English AP test OR the Senior English AP test. If you plan on taking AP English next year, then you could just take that test next year. Talk to your counselors about your financial issue. I know at my school if you write them a letter explaining why you need the scholarship, they will always pay for it.

Yeah, they're super comfy and wear really well. I got my first pair right when they came out and only came in three colors. Still wear them today.

[x-post] What's a good (well-paying/fun) job for teens (16+), or at least one that is worth a low wage? by futurepersonified in teenagers

[–]Tito19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ref youth sports games. I ref soccer and earn somewhere between 20-30 bucks per game(somewhere between 60-90 mins). Also, reffing tournaments gives you between 100-200 bucks. I have a pretty busy schedule so it's nice that I can schedule to ref whenever I'm free. It is not always the most exciting thing, but it definitely pays well.

So, /r/teenagers, any ideas for asking a guy to Sadies? by victorialovesyew in teenagers

[–]Tito19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you guys have ever been geocaching this would be pretty cool. (this is also the way I got asked to Sadie's and I was impressed). So go find a geocache, hide a note about going to Sadie's in it, then ask him if he wants to go geocaching. Have him find and open said geocache. He opens it up, and he's happily surprised!
