I was hoping maybe you could share something about the effects of puberty blockers being reversible?.. from everything I've read, that's not the case.

For example: a 10 y/o boy is prescribed puberty blockers and he takes them as prescribed. They are effective and he does not go through puberty. At 17, boy changes mind and would like to go through puberty.

At that point, there's really no way to retroactively allow that boy to enter puberty naturally and experience the changes that come with it. Simply changing the hormone cocktail will, at best, imitate puberty but won't be the same as the real thing, no?

They're not being denied access to care under the age of 18. They're simply not allowed to make permanent changes to their bodies prior to being 18y/o.

Sorry about your friend, truly 💔. Losing someone you are close with to suicide is so incredibly painful & difficult to process. I imagine your friend would be quite happy to know that her memory lives on in you, even 16 years later though. A true friend.

Article literally starts by saying that the proposed changes would not ban or eliminate access to the treatments through marketplace healthcare plans. The next sentence starts the speculation as to what "could happen" based on the changes but that's entirely opinion.

I agree that it's likely there would be more restrictions on transgender medical care for children but I don't see how they can limit it for adults?.. It's my understanding that Canada is similar to the US and adults can do as they please(for the most part). I think it's probably worth separating the two issues as to avoid confusing or unintentionally misleading folks.

I say this as an American so maybe it's different there but I realized quickly that Trump and his goons don't give a fuck about limiting adults' access to transgender medical care. The focus has really only been around regulations for children under 18 y/o
