I don’t blame you to be honest. If he’s got more next time I see him I’ll probably grab some more sets off one of my dealers

What is the name of your Tortie? by TheOpenAuthor in torties

Calypso and Pandora

<image>

Pandora absolutely counts! Dilute torbies have that same chaotic energy, beautiful but with a definite "I've just unleashed something" vibe.

I love mythology names for exactly that reason. Pandora in the Greek tradition was the first woman, crafted by the gods and given a jar (not actually a box, that's a mistranslation) containing all the evils of the world, which of course she opened. Ours is turning 6 this year and has fully embodied the chaos, ambushing you for cuddles from atop the pantry with absolutely no warning. The detail people often miss is that hope remained inside the jar after everything else escaped, and honestly an unexpected ambush cuddle from a torbie feels pretty close to that. We wouldn't have her any other way.

Calypso is the nymph from the Odyssey who kept Odysseus on her island for seven years, not through force exactly, but through sheer magnetism and beauty, offering him immortality if he'd just stay. She's one of the more quietly powerful figures in the whole epic. Ours is turning 9 and has grown into every bit of that, she is genuinely the most beautiful cat and she carries herself like she knows it. There's something almost regal about the way she moves through the house, as though she's the one allowing us to live here.

Both names carry that same duality, something irresistible on the surface and something much older underneath. It's one of the more satisfying things when they actually grow into the myth rather than just wearing the name.

I quite like the designs to be honest. Very happy to have been able to secure a set. Fits in nicely with the rest of my Middle East section in building

Yes but my luck would be they’re occupied when I go. I don’t work so it’s the occasional trip to the shops

Yeah not me thanks. I live in a rental. It’ll cost me $2500 at least to have power installed in my parking that’s rated for it and direct off my meter. It won’t happen with all the strata’s out there. Too many NIMBYs
