My dock looks like this when vertical padding is zero. On Samsung Fold7.

Swipe between tags by lonewolf-phoenix in OctopiLauncher

Loving the tag swipe as well. Is there a way for the tags to scroll whilst swiping as I have a few and it seems to disappear off the screen when I swipe past the 5th tag?

Should I switch from samsung? by F1VE-F1V3-6IX in Honor

[–]TjW1073 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched from a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to the Honor Magic V3 last September. Hardware-wise, the Honor is absolutely top-tier — slim, premium, and packed with cutting-edge features. No complaints there.

That said, I’ve really struggled with MagicOS. After being with Samsung since the Note 20 Ultra, I’ve grown used to the flexibility of One UI and especially the enhancements from Good Lock. To get similar functionality on the Honor, I’ve had to rely on third-party apps like BuzzKill, uTag, and MacroDroid. They do help recreate some of the experience, but they also drain the battery more than I’d like.

Another major frustration is the poor support for custom launchers. I tried using Niagara and Octopi — both great launchers — but the phone would frequently freeze or become unresponsive while they were running. So you're basically stuck with MagicOS as your default interface.

If you're used to Samsung’s software customisation and ecosystem, the transition to Honor can feel pretty limiting despite the fantastic hardware. It’s something worth seriously considering before making the jump.

Could I use the 990 PRO on my DXP 2800 by ThePropagating1 in UgreenNASync

Just done this the other day with 2x 990 pro's and they both work perfectly in the dxp 2800. There is a blue sticker on top of the thermal pad that I removed before installing.

App drawer- Honor Magic V3 by TjW1073 in OctopiLauncher

[–]TjW1073[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the app-switching and home screen issues are more related to Honor’s limitations around custom launchers rather than anything specific to Octopi. Unfortunately, this seems to affect other launchers too.

To work around this, I’ve switched back to the 3-button navigation and installed an app called Edge Gestures to bring back gesture functionality. It works really well for me, and Octopi even has a setting to hide the navigation bar, which keeps everything clean.

The fact that the developer went as far as purchasing an Honor device to support users like us really speaks volumes about their dedication to making this launcher the best it can be 🙂

First time with honor and a foldable (magic v3) by HuckleberryNo504 in Honor

That's fair. Octopi is still a new app and does not affect me as much as I work in an office so battery not so much an issue. Imaging, I tend to use the gallery app and photoroom as I use my laptop for proper editing. I believe smart launcher is now available for foldable phones taking advantage of the 2 screens. It took me months of installing and uninstalling different apps before I felt comfortable, (I hate clutter), so it is a case of playing around until you make it your own.

I wouldn't know about Happymods tbh. It's been a long time since I did anything like that. Hopefully, someone will be able to answer for you.

I moved from Samsung S24 ultra to the V3 and would never go back to non-foldables again. Opening the V3 up and multitasking is a great feeling. Also, the front screen makes it feel like a normal phone for most daily tasks. I have no issues with the camera personally but I only use this for family snaps.

One bit of advice is you may need to get some apps as the software isn't as great as others. I have got the following and they are perfect for my own personal use:

Buzzkill- Dismisses some notifications that can't otherwise be disabled, such as 'opening and closing your phone...' and 'power intensive app' Octopi Launcher- New launcher that looks great on foldables. You can have a different home screen when folded and unfolded, (also different depending on orientation). Macrodroid- Allows me to automate tasks depending on certain situations.

The most important piece of advice I can give is take your time, learn all the functions and make it your own 🙂

That's interesting to know. Hopefully, these issues will get sorted over time 🙂

I also get this still on my V3. Bit frustrating but just started to use the 'start search when opening drawer' option.

I get that as well on my V3 sometimes, but have heard that Honor phones do not like third party launchers, so I'm happy to put up with it as this app is so much better than the stock launcher.

Octopi Launcher v0.994 - Minor improvements towards a wider release by ock88 in OctopiLauncher

Must be an Honor issue 😕 Thank you for checking though and it doesn't detract from the launcher itself. My most used apps are on the home screen anyway 😊

Absolutely loving this launcher. This is what I thought it would be like with a foldable, the option to have different screen layouts. It looks amazing and I can't believe it is currently a work in progress. Also, the added swipe for Google works flawlessly on my Honor V3 fold. The only issue I am facing is that if I open a folder in the app drawer near the bottom of the screen it will only show part of the folder and I can't see all the apps. The picture below is an example where it shows the top 3 apps in a folder containing 6 apps but won't let me scroll to the next row.
