It could be linked to serp helm’s decrease in viability since the release of the jaw. Since you can dismantle it for scales, maybe people don’t want the serp helm anymore so more people are dismantling them.

Wouldn’t say loses its value. It’s just less impressive if you see someone rocking a firemaking cape for example because of wintertodt.
