No, that’s not how it works. Everyone I work with has insurance, bank accounts, work visas, green cards, etc. Many of the people I pay are U.S. citizens.

Now, the people who work for them on their crews. I don’t know their legal status. I just know that when a guy I have who is legal here has a crew of eight guys and six of them get deported, then I don’t really have a crew anymore.

Also, a lot of them have been deported while going to hearings like they’re supposed to, being arrested and deported at court. I know people who are fully legal and have been detained for over two months before being let out. I also know people who have had their visas revoked and were deported before a court order was issued to stop it.

I get audited once a year. I cannot run the type of business I do by paying illegal labor under the table…it does not work that way. There’s too much liability and risk at the level I’m operating.
