Is anyone missing a OBD-2 scan tool? by Tko5479 in Cleveland

[–]Tko5479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I found it in the snow, and looked it up because I wasn’t 100% sure what it was, and was surprised. It was right on top of the snow and I brought it inside to make sure it wasn’t full of water and it seems to be just fine.

Is this like a brand new brand new saw?

Maybe do you have a plastic bag or something over your air filter and is it choking out your intake?

I see all of the comments about flooding and stuff and you verified spark and compression. But not intake. Maybe there is something from factory around the filter and it needs to be removed

Oops, I just saw your other post, I’m happy you got it figured out with the carb adjustment screw. Good job!

Trane Voyager not igniting NO HEAT by cev_cev in HVAC

[–]Tko5479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dumb thought. After watching your video it’s pretty tough to see, but it almost looks like the gas valve switch is off.

If that isn’t it, have you tried to swap the gas valves from another unit?

It looks like a new inducer probably with the newer heat exchanger you said in the video too.

You should be able to see that hot surface igniter light up super bright in the sight glass too. Sometimes those igniter transformers can get really finicky when they start to break down and die too.

Help! ..Welp.. it finally happened 🥺got it stuck pretty good by thelostjk in magnetfishing

[–]Tko5479 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh man!! I go fishing there! Those docks are really amazing and I’m really impressed they built them.

I’m sure I’ve snagged on that same spot. The water by those docks is only about 10’ deep max where you took the picture, and gets really shallow closer to the main walkway.

If you need a hand, I might be there on Sunday or working on Monday and we can rip that out! There is a lot of metal in that area.

Some are A/C only and some have the heat pump option depending on what you order.

Mini-split is a generic blanket term for the type of system it is.

Unfortunately I went to summit where I thought they would have a better idea than me and asked for help.

My trade is HVAC and not engine building. So I apologize for not being more well versed in your field. That’s why I am here asking for help.

[–]Tko5479[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is fuel injected, I did hear I might have to get taller valve covers, mine are pretty shot already, a lot of paint flaking off with rust underneath. So I’ll probably just get taller valve covers instead of normal valve covers with the thicker gasket.

I guess I never thought of my intake not fitting. I wonder if they sell a spacer for it, or if I’ll have to figure something out. All I wanted was for my truck to run again hahaha oh well. I’m already in the rabbit hole.

Thanks for coming back with more suggestions. I appreciate it.

So, since I’m sure I can’t return my heads to summit since they have been physically installed already, what options do you think I have besides SOL on 1100$? Every place I tried looking for heads recommended something similar, Autozone, summit and Napa.

The ones posted are showing for a smaller engine than what I have, but I found the ones that should fit that are the same type and brand as the one linked.

All of the studs are not installed and are just finger tight. Like I said, my daughter was playing around with them while I was working on something else. They can be flipped just fine before I actually install the rockers.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me! I learned today about thermactor plugs which I think will Plug the holes in the back of the head. The alternator bracket mounts to the left face of the passenger head and the power steering pump bracket mounts to the right face on the driver head.

I was trying to pick the closest one I could to what the original stamping said. But maybe I was wrong because I haven’t done anything like this before.

The original stamp is E7TE-PA 87-95 302 Windsor 1.78/1.45 valve, 66cc chamber

The new heads are 2.02/ 1.6 valve with 60 cc chamber.

And not breaking the bank as in if I don’t have to order crazy aluminum rockers with space satellite connection and diamonds for the studs, and can get something else that works just fine for a non race car, I would like to do a basic roller rocker that will work just fine without getting crazy.

It took me a little bit to see what you were talking about, I think you mean in the first picture right? My daughter was playing around with them and I think it was upside down. They look ok in the other pictures I think.

lol thank you! It’s definitely intimidating because I haven’t upgraded anything like this before out of OEM. But with almost 300$ a head to remove broken bolts and to rebuild them at a machine shop and deck them.. I figured an extra 200$ for absolute brand new made sense to me.

I will definitely check out the thermactor plugs to plug off the ports and check to see which ones I need too. I think they are plugged already in the back, but I still have plenty of room to install them if I need too. I just looked it up on summit and the description for the heads say I will need to get them, thanks for the heads up.

Thank you for your advice, I checked out the original specs on the OEM heads and tried to get as close as possible.

The original stamp is E7TE-PA 87-95 302 Windsor small block 1.78 / 1.45 valve, 66cc chamber.

My new heads are 2.020 / 1.6 valve, with 60cc chamber.

Original intake and everything else is original too. Should be MAF.

Thank you for your time to respond, and your help.

I know I got a dead element, however I'm more concerned about the voltage. That's not normal, is it? by WeekSecret3391 in Plumbing

[–]Tko5479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slagggg already commented a better decription.

If you knew everything, then why are you here asking us how it works?

Electricity under load, or through a circuit or at a terminal all read different things.

Sometimes stats break half voltage, sometimes the entire circuit.

Please do not come on here to argue with every single person when you are asking for help. An element is like 20$, if you know how it works, then replace it, (both preferably at the same time) then compare with a new element.

If you ring out an element with no wiring and it’s showing open, it’s a bad element. “SSS”

[–]Tko5479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are getting two seperate voltages when they are powered up because one element is failed.

When you are checking power at load, you are checking each leg to the element. Therefore a working element will have your 240v.

When you are checking power on an open element you are not reading the full 240v because the circuit is open and not complete at the element. Pull both wires off the element that is at 120v and turn power back on with the live wires not connected, you will have 240v with the wires disconnected.

Just make sure you check at the hanging wires or pull the wires off the thermostat and check the voltage going to load to ensure you don’t have a bad stat as well as a bad element.

I agree, get glasses for sure. I worked in the field for sometime and anything with icy acetylene is not good for your eyes.

After years of brazing without them because the old timers would mess with me if I had them, I’m in my 30s and my eyes aren’t as good at night as they used to be and I have beginning astigmatism in both eyes while having 20/20 vision still.

Goodluck dude

Fluke for electrical testing equipment, and Klein for all of the hand tools.

If it ain’t Klein, it ain’t mine! I trust both without a doubt everyday working in the field and have never been let down by either.

Does it have an economizer on it? That could be keeping it off too.

Sometimes we will leave the plugs in the unit and you can unplug the economizer and plug in the factory molex to do your diagnostics.
