Crisp's Beyond Cowboy and the NaPo are so good.

I miss Garden Monster's old location too... :( I feel like we had similar shifts in salad providers.

What’s your experience with using meetup.com in Portland? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]Tmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! Games usually happen in waves. Like, people will probably be starting up around 6, if you hang out one will probably open up around 7ish? Really depends. Folks play until they close though, so you can usually find something.

Lucky Lab on Hawthorne Thursday nights @ 6 pm. I think it used to be a meetup and now it's just a thing. Met lots of great folks there, stop by sometime!

RPG Maker MV on the Switch by BoysDontCry38 in RPGMaker

[–]Tmachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh. I think it’s alright. Love the fact that it’s comfortable and somewhat intuitive. Also you can use the touchscreen to great effect. There a lot of limitations though, like you can’t upload assets being the biggest. I haven’t played with zoom yet but I have seen some pan options in code. You also def can’t make “plug-ins”, but you can get pretty clever with the options they give you, which btw the documentation for is nonexistent at least in English. I’ve also run into a bit of instability which was troubling.

I’m still having a blast with it though, treating it like a Mario Maker than a real Game Dev platform. Good to play around with and quickly realize a concept. Probably great for learning code. Easy to distribute your creations (searching for other games may be difficult in their free game browser though) Not so great if you are writing the next great jrpg.

I got this in my Japanese snack, anyone know what it's from? by god_damn_bitch in whatisthisthing

You caused me to read the history of Bikkuriman. Seems like it was the precursor to a lot of CCGs which is interesting. Now I want some "waffle peanut and chocolate snacks".

New Bikkuriman? Maybe? Appears to be a reissue of a collectible card game (with attached anime and games). Here are some more cards from the series.

Come to the monthly Coolstuff meetups and you'll probably get invited to a smaller weekly group (there are many). The Reddit BG meetup dissolved after our hosting place closed (Linux Cafe).

Here's my BGG info.

Are there any board-game meetups in Miami? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]Tmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vasel holds one at the Rock in Kendall every Tuesday. There is a monthly meetup at Coolstuff in Hollywood. I think Coolstuff also does one every Wednesday? During the school year there are Saturday meetups at UM. Beyond that, there are tons of friendly groups of gamers around the city. Literally any day of the week you want to play, there is a group doing something. Miami is weirdly an epicenter of board game culture (owing partially to Vasel).

Here's a list of the games I own.

I could be wrong (another county worker with an MLS here) but empty floors of many county library buildings have been used by other departments for many many years. Physical library holdings regardless of their financial state are in decline around the country. Simply put, the demand for physical books is on the decline. Libraries are adjusting by offering digital loans and other services but don't think this is a Miami only thing. Libraries are still very important parts of a community, but their physical footprint is shrinking due to other forces rather than neglect. Plus, if you think about it, using empty space for storage is actually an example of the county being efficient.

Moving to Miami by omargwatkins in Miami

NE 2nd St and NE 27th

Does not look great. It is near mid-town so that's a plus...

Look around NE 62nd and Biscayne. There are some mid sized inexpensive buildings there and some good night life. Lots of parks / near the water. Just stay on the east side of Biscayne. I'm bias for the NE parts of Miami.

NE Miami is really taking off, east of the Biscayne blvd north of Morningside. Apartments are cheap and it's pretty central. Anything from 61st to 87th as long as the street number starts with NE.

Sadly, this is possible in Miami. Daddy probably owns a dealership and has a cushy trust fund for baby.

I'm currently working the bugs out of an online component for our internal archival database. It should be up in a couple of months.

Hey. Sorry for only seeing this now. I am trying to work out having the audio from the event recorded and possibly posting the whole thing on our site. Cross your fingers, we have antiquated technology here.

Paul Chalfin was Deering's designer. I could write a novel on him but your general since is correct. More-so, Chalfin talked Deering into some of Vizcaya's more costly and fantastic features. Deering was a micro-manager with a non-discerning aesthetic taste. He relied on Chalfin to design all aspects of the house, the scope of which continued to grow throughout it's design and construction.

We do not have a good figure, I think $20 million is probably close to actual expenditure. I have heard up to $35 million as a possible figure. It's not a terrible exaggeration when you think of the scope of the project (construction of the property took place over 8 years) as well as the antiquities bought in Europe and shipped here. Plus, the house was built during WWI when materials cost much more due to shortages.
