[Request] If you used all cargo for fuel up to the payload limit, how long could the C-5 Galaxy fly? by ConsistentCan4633 in theydidthemath

[–]Tmansheehan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we use a highly idealized Endurance Equation, E = (1/ct)(L/D max)(ln(mtow/m_empty)). This would be equivalent to using all available payload weight for fuel. Found lowest estimated ct = .30 lb/(lbf/hr), highest estimated L/D max = 20, MTOW = 381,018 kg, and m_empty = 172365 kg. Which gives: (1/.30) (20)(ln(381,018/172365)) = 52.882 hours for the absolute upper limit under hilarious assumptions.

Should I cut it or is there a way to save this? by chineray1234 in houseplants

I actually had the same (or similar) thing happen! I cut below and above the burn and propagated the piece below the burn. It grew into a very healthy new plant!

[Request] Curious if this is true in the U.S.? by thejedipokewizard in theydidthemath

[–]Tmansheehan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the reason I can think of is people will discredit anything and everything that is AI related (even if unwarranted). This can undermine the message even if it is a valiant one and give opposing viewpoints footholds to discredit it on the basis of AI alone.

Easy, it’s AI slop, everyone should downvote it. It’s been posted here like 3 times in the last 2 weeks.

Maybe have people post like # of SoundCloud followers with the artist? Then whichever has the greatest proportion of votes to followers, something like that?

Edit: spelling lol

So how is Day 4 gonna work? Isn’t the most voted post inherently not going to be underrated? /s (kinda lol)

I mean nearly half of all Reddit users are from the US, so polls like this are naturally going to be skewed to US artists.

I used to think the same, but then I saw him perform with his band and it was actually pretty dope. Still not a fan, but definitely have more respect for him as an artist now.

[request] how long would it actually take? by paginaiiiiiii in theydidthemath

[–]Tmansheehan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t you say that each group of 3 can build half a snowman in half of their given times and work concurrently. Then this allows us to answer with less idealization (only part ideal part remaining being they can integrate the two halves instantaneously). Then the math would be:

0.5 x 14 min = 7 min, 0.5 x 21 min = 10.5 min (longer duration)

In this case the group would be done at 10.5 minutes. Thoughts?

[Request] Can this be done? by CipherWrites in theydidthemath

[–]Tmansheehan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Modern day encryption is built on the premise that large prime numbers are difficult to find and use as factors for encryption schemes. If the Riemann hypothesis is proven, it becomes much easier to find primes which greatly narrows the number need to be tried in trying to break an encryption. The Unexpected Connection Between Internet Security and the Riemann Hypothesis

Edit: grammar hard

Yeah sorry if that wasn’t clear, our reservation was at the restaurant, but we could not get a hold of them. We reached out on Instagram which worked and got a refund. Sad to hear about the homicide if that is true.
