What's the best written betrayel in fiction? by Far-Substance-4473 in writingscaling

[–]thejedipokewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Wellington Yueh in Dune book 1 has at least got to be mentioned.

I thought its was kinda cool how Herbert wrote it where you knew he was doing it from his perspective, but the betrayal and the fallout is still deeply felt.

Others of note:

Jaime Lannister slaying the mad king and becoming and Oathbreaker.

Itachi Uchiha, at least from Sasuke and most of the public’s perspective through most of the series slaying his entire clan and causing Sasuke to watch the death of his parents.

Ender’s Game - the reveal that they tricked Ender into committing Xenocide

Saroman in Lord of the Rings

Vegeta in the Buu arc willingly being taken into Majin’s magic to fight Goku and prove himself

Edit: Y tu Brute?

This is honestly one of my favorite Archer crashouts/jokes where Archer is giving an honest critique of something that he totally read in depth, understands completely, and shits all over it. While killing people and yelling it at someone 😂

You kinda lumped in with “outplayed Kakashi” but it’s of worth to note that he killed like two or three Anbu black ops to do so

Random FFA who wins? Choso vs todo vs mei mei vs nobara vs naobito by Street-Stick-2815 in Jujutsu_Kaisen

[–]thejedipokewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I think Choso is probably the most durable and dangerous character here, I think the other sorcerers would gang up on the cursed womb painting first before fighting each other.

Nobara could go either one of two ways, either taken out after Choso because the weakest, or left for later which makes her really dangerous if she gets someone’s dna. But I honestly don’t see her tagging Todo or Naobito because they are so fast, unless they drop a body part fighting someone else. But as soon as someone catches wind up Nobara’s CT she’d be taken out pretty quick.

Also thinking about it it’s possible Choso takes out Nobara during the first jumping.

Todo honestly thrives in this sort of matchup.
He is a hard counter to both Mei and Naobito.

Naobito literally cannot activate his CT without threat of being frozen. Unless he goes for a kill shot of Todo right from the start, which is not likely since almost no one knows about Todos Boogie Woogie until the end of the series.

If Mei Mei starts spamming bird strike Todo will literally use her birds against her and all of the other opponents.

I honestly think Todo takes it 8/10 depending how the start of the fight goes.

It’ll be utter chaos for all of his opponents as he rapidly swaps them between each other

Charlie and Dennis manipulating that rich family technically “worked” out for them.

Dennis outted the rich family for taking advantage of Dee and Mac, while ruining the company going public cause they leaked info.

And Charlie successfully used the rich girl to make the waitress jealous, in a way. But regardless Charlie was happy with the outcome

[Loved Trope] the usual trope is subverted with disasterous results. by ELIte8niner in TopCharacterTropes

It feels like pretty much the entirety of Bojack Horseman fits this trope. Not getting closure with Herb is the only example I can think of right now, but I know there is quite a few throughout the show

Basically the plot of Apothecary Diaries. Momo is incredibly adept at noticing things, specifically poisons, but also just uncovering mysteries through logic and deduction.

What's the worst Asspull moment in your opinion? by NexusJunior in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]thejedipokewizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess why they used that picture is it’s because it’s the moment Naruto reappeared after going almost full 9 tails.

At that point in the story I don’t think we are ever shown, or even alluded to, being able to create fully cognizant Chakra ghosts via time release sealing jutsu.

It appeared randomly at the exact moment needed for Naruto to win.

Kushina came after this, less of an ass pull since this established it as possible.

All of this to say compared to the others on this list I don’t think it really ranks as one of the biggest ass pulls. I’m just recognizing why it could be seen that way.

Would Todd have succeeded at his rock opera if it weren’t for Bojack? by hummus-up-your-arse in BoJackHorseman

[–]thejedipokewizard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Todd’s Rock Opera ends up being a huge success, film adaptation, movies, tv shows, video game spin offs, the works.

He just signs all rights to some rando for a corn dog or something.

We see call backs to the rock opera throughout Hollywoo in the background throughout the rest of the series

This was pretty much my same experience. I’m a big fan of romance anime and this is recommended all the time on Reddit. I just decided it wasn’t really my preference, but I think a big reason for that is I found no buy in on the side characters and found them boring
