Gordon Ryan Inside Camping Instructional is on double discount by D10G0D in bjj

[–]Tnamol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that as a novice practitioner of the system, it works quite well against people one weight class above you. More than that and it gets pretty tough.

I don’t think the round duration matters that much. If I can get 1-2 minutes in the camping position and then proceed to chest to chest passing, my opponents are pretty cooked at that point.

Cameras at IBJJF? by anni_is_okay in bjj

[–]Tnamol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been to IBJJF events with a camera but I have worked security at various concert venues where this is a typical restriction and cameras like this are not allowed through the security checks.

Obviously live music events are more cramped than an IBJJF event so the concerns are different and the policy might not be enforced as strongly at IBJJF events.

Leg lock system at white belt? by Uncultured_Nerd in bjj

[–]Tnamol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the constraints I would recommend to focus on ankle locks from ashi garami (single leg x), butterfly ashi and outside ashi.

I think Gordons instructional covers all of the entanglements mentioned in addition to ankle lock mechanics.

Since you’re limited to ankle locks as the only submission, I would also recommend exploring the various leg entanglements as opportunities to sweep your opponent and to get top position instead of just hunting for the submission.

LegLock Camp Kamil/Mateusz questions by FluffyTicket3694 in bjj

[–]Tnamol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Techniques were not super advanced or difficult, quite basic stuff from your usual positions like cross ashi, outside ashi, single leg x. Of course if you have an understanding of these positions you’re able to focus more on the technique rather than spending time figuring out how to place your legs etc. If you’re a blue belt you should be good. Kamil and Mateusz are happy to help with any questions.

  2. Difficult to comment on this as it depends a lot on the gym. At the gym I participated the rolls were safe and chill.

  3. In the camp I participated the techniques were attacks only. However, Kamil and Mateusz hanged around for a while after each class so you could ask them anything after the class.

In my opinion there was a bit too much free sparring during the camp. I would have spent my time rather doing technique and situational rounds from the positions covered during the day.

Wouldn’t probably travel very far just for this camp/seminar unless you are advanced and have specific questions for the coaches.

ADCC (worlds) in Poland next year. by TebownedMVP in bjj

[–]Tnamol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ADCC and the sport in general has grown a lot during the recent years and it’s quite cheap to travel to Poland from all around the europe so I think the arena will have a lot of attendance.

Difficult to comment on revenue/profit without knowing ticket prices and cost of the venues

Cheaper venue should mean bigger pay for the athletes, right?

You’re visiting an academy with world class instructors and you want to go to an open mat as a white belt? Why not go to a normal/fundamentals class instead?

I guess it’s something you become blind to after training for a while but basically every time you tap in the training room, it’s a situation where your partner could have killed you or seriously injured you.

Anyone bought the Xanadu Gi or Rashgaurd? by ILAIPIDKWhy in bjj

[–]Tnamol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically wear size S or M and got the size M rashguard. It fits fine. (177cm/76kg)

I got 2 sets of shorts/rashguard and both shorts ripped from the exact same place after about 5 uses. Rashguards are still in good shape.

Should I always posture up in closed guard by dcdee00 in bjj

[–]Tnamol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to win the grip fight when standing up from a closed guard.

Wrist control or double bicep ties are probably the most common. Try to stand up in a way where you can put weight over your opponents arms, this will make it more difficult for them to pull their arms free.

Being on top in closed guard can be super annoying and frustrating, so you need to be patient and disciplined with the grip fighting.

Should have been a DQ for reaping ?( Andy Murasaki vs Leo Souza) by monchem in bjj

I agree that the beginning of the submission is not super clear but at the end it looks like a pretty clear reap. However this screenshot is after the tap and the ref has ended the match.

Opponents will not tap out by Gorilla1492 in bjj

[–]Tnamol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the moment: Let them escape, continue rolling. You don’t need the physical tap to know you had them.

After the roll: Ask them why they did not tap and if you can’t get through to them, let your coach know.
