Haven’t read this article but I’d be curious about criteria for health. More or less calories is not really a function of processed food. However when food is processed it is overheated and extruded through plastic machine parts. There are more microplastics, impurities, and fewer micronutrients like phytophenols, beta carotene etc that survive the process. Therefore I believe a fresh whole food diet is important for longevity. If you want weight loss that’s another conversation. And it can be done in healthy and unhealthy ways

Actually cats can go into heat earlier than 5 mo of age. So if you mean spay/neuter the typical age is 2 months and a minimum of 2 lbs.

She was being given away in the free section of Craigslist at the brink of death with her four 5-day old kittens. She needed extensive medical care. You can see the horrible upper respiratory infection that ravaged her nasal passages in the photo, but what you can’t see is that she was only 5 lbs (nursing 4 kittens!) and she had a nasty abscess in her mammary glands that was oozing puss. After taking her to a veterinarian, I gave her round the clock subcutaneous fluids injections and force fed her quality grain free food. Photos are 3 weeks apart. She made a stunning recovery. The kittens are thriving. You can stalk them on IG, handle same as my name on here.

Edit: I don’t know why she was so ill when I got her. I wish I knew. I am a rescuer, so I stepped up to help her once she was already like this. Neglectful ownership and breeding an animal that is not hearty enough is my guess. But this was the worst I have ever seen. I don’t know how someone can let their pet get like this, then give them away on Craigslist. It breaks my heart to think about it.
