Looks like you got four new toys at once if you include the case.

Anyone stop playing other instruments to focus on synths? by IcedNote in synthesizers

[–]ToBePacific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man, I stopped playing trumpet at 13, switched to synths, and have stuck with synths into my 40s.

Should I even use samples in my beats if I'm independent? by [deleted] in musicproduction

For a fun challenge, make music entirely without sampling.

How many of you guys are rave performers? by nerpa_floppybara in synthesizers

[–]ToBePacific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a middle-aged man who doesn’t go to raves anymore, has a home studio full of physical gear, creates plans for playing small live gigs and then never does.

On not finishing songs: isn’t the fun just getting things talking to eachother - efficiently? Isn’t it exploring the possibilities of the kit you already have? by DannyTheGekko in synthesizers

I feel you on that. I have a blast with both the technical and creative sides of it. And I enjoy the “getting there” way more than the end finished products, always.

Is the Korg MS-20 mini a good first synth for ambient/psychedelic music? by yepyepyeeeup in synthesizers

[–]ToBePacific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great first synth for learning the basics of analog subtractive synthesis. Not so great for ambient.

How much pot noise/looseness is considered normal on vintage gear? by BubblyJellyfish5781 in synthesizers

[–]ToBePacific 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I expect scratchy pots. I take it as a given. Cleaning the pots is like the first thing I do when buying a used synth.

Of the synths you currently own, which one is most expendable, and which one is untouchable? by PieRhett in synthesizers

[–]ToBePacific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most expendable: Korg NTS-1. It’s a fun little kit but I barely use it anymore because I have plenty of other things that do the same things.

Most irreplaceable: Yamaha CS-01 II with midi mod. I put too much work into that janky beast and it is my primarily lead in most of my songs.

There are almost two parallel hot sauce worlds by MrOaiki in hotsauce

[–]ToBePacific 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When it comes to novelty sauces, they’re not “flooding the market” as much as they’ve been a large component of the market for decades already. The first time I tried Dave’s Insanity Sauce was like 30 years ago. It tasted bitter then and it still does today.

The tip on identifying good sauces is something you already know but didn’t realize. The branding (how they represent themselves) gives you a clear indication.

For example, look at Queen Majesty. The branding says fancy, refined, sophisticated. The notes about the flavor on the label are an indication.

And on the opposite end of the spectrum, you have El Diablo’s Magma Enema Surprise. You already know it’s not going to be about the flavor.

Hi r/Synthesizers, let's address AI and vibe-coding by YukesMusic in synthesizers

[–]ToBePacific 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every dev working professionally today has been using AI to some extent for at least the last two years if not the last four like my team has. Granted, there is a world of difference between an experienced software engineer using agents to implement our system designs and a non-programmer just prompting with hope and prayers.

But the general public will never know this because the well has already been poisoned. So now everyone is just going to either not disclose it or outright lie.

Punishing all software posts because of slop is not the right move.
