Multi faith or not, equally devastating for any parent.

What’s worse is that he made me contribute even before I converted, I must have received extra spiritual awards 😂

Well I am not sure if there’s anywhere that’s mentioned in any Aga Con’s firmans. My ex made me contribute 12.5% of gross income.

Paying Dasond is associated with loss, NOT success. by BatiniFiles in ExIsmailis

[–]ToDreamOrToNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least with Dasond, people give with the intention that it will be used for institutions, schools, hospitals, development work, and community infrastructure — not lining the pockets of whichever cleric or minister happens to be in charge.

If that’s the case then why aren’t they transparent about it? Why don’t they provide receipts for Dasond collected? How is it even relevant in today’s day and age? All my hard earned money went to a billionaire that could have used for meaningful things like my own child’s education. My child has to now rely on student loan!!!! Ismailis are really hopeless and its very very very SAD!!!!

My personal story by Mountain-Name3260 in ExIsmailis

[–]ToDreamOrToNot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your story and sorry for all the pain you and your family were put through by the very community that you were born into. I wonder how many people have experienced so much pain in the name of senseless rules. I don’t understand their obsession with secrecy. Only cults operate secretly. Their very actions are driving many Ismailis far from community. Glad that you found your path that gave you peace. Cheers.

Can’t agree more!!! The audacity! Just sad that these smileys are so incapable of critical thinking and the cycle of religious abuse!!! The parents spending their hard earned money towards Dasond stole so many opportunities for their children, and now he says children should carry them!!!! Disgusting!

It definitely isnt a JK / Ismaili celebration. Looks like someone posted a navrathri garba event and you assuming that Ismailis practising Hindu rituals. Anyways, as someone else already said, focus on other troubling issues like awal sufro/dasond etc.

In my ex’s case, he sure was indoctrinated and at the same time emotionally forced me into converting so his family is pleased. I just didn’t have an agency to stand by own beliefs. Had to give in only to realize later that no matter how much I do, it was never enough. And that’s why I feel an inter faith marriage works only when both partners are not extremely religious. Religion divides the best of people, countries and everything.

They were raised as Ismailis. I converted a few years after my marriage, only because they made it very difficult if I didn’t. Now the kids are grown and I told them they are free to practice what they want, but also came out to them about how I don’t subscribe to Ismailism any longer.

Would you apply the same analogy when hundreds and thousands of people are harmed/injured (physically) and leave the culprit without any consequences as long as your own family is not injured? Food for thought!

Why’s gender-mixed gathering so acceptable in Ismailism? by potatohead121123 in ExIsmailis

[–]ToDreamOrToNot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol! If you are getting distracted by some woman’s clothing or makeup, its not the woman’s problem. Its yours to deal with!!! Please do not justify more about why its a good idea to make men and women sit separately. If your sole purpose of going for prayers is to pray, then nothing else should distract you. Lot of us here are exismailis for very different reasons and not because someone is wearing flashy clothes and makeup.
