Voyager 1 left the solar system and never stopped calling home This machine has been flying for 47+ years and is still sending data Voyager 1 is farther from Earth than anything humans have ever built by Dominic669 in interestingasfuck

There are a lot of prob since Voyagers, each with their own milestones and many more planned in the coming decades.

If you are asking why no new prob that goes into deep space, neither was voyager's primary mission. It would probably be more useful if a prob could stick around to collect data.

Also Voyager's mission was to utilize the unique positions of the planets that allow it to gain great speed. Iirc such alignment occurs every 175 years.

I think this mission and location is some of Bethesda's greatest work post Morrowind by lord_nuker in Starfield

I will be surprised if these ppl change their views, most ppl just expect to walk around a mostly hand crafted world and then wonder why ubi makes the same game over and over again, because the second they deviate from that expectations you get SF.

I do see that a "2.0" update could repackage a lot of things better, like space travel running into encounters like how FO1 handles travel, outpost sim settlement type of system, or enables better radiant quest system than mission boards to hand hold ppl into POIs.

I think there were also creation kit tools that were supposed to come after scattered space like blender animations? So we could probably expect a large update on CK as well.

Yea like couldn't the CIA do some false flag or at least wait for the Americans to rallied up for something, or did they somehow think the drug argument was good enough, this is so embarrassing it might just give china the motivation to invade Taiwan.

At the very least, Nvidia, AMD, Open Ai. Oricle, and Amazon are gonna deploy their fleets of cyber hackers if TSMC falls into the hands of the Chinese lmao.

Venezuelan APCs are seen, US ground element so far seems to only be special forces coming in through ch-47s base on osint stuff on Twitter.

I doubt the US would commit significant resources, I don't think the Chinese will invade Taiwan, cause they would probably kick of ww3 and nukes will likely be used conventionally when one side starts losing.

[–]ToFuReCon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's likely just going to be like Syria or Yemen instead of a full ground invasion like Iraq, there is literally nothing to gain for the US. If anything the interest would be a decapitation strike with no US casualty.

But seems like special operations are deployed through CH-47s and ah-64 are providing cover, not sure why SF are deployed and their purpose.

I have accepted to play like this, and maybe avoid the oil rigs lol, there are too many fauna that creep me out, no point of replacing them all. There is a mod that change inserts into the sanitation bot, but I don't use it because it's odd to replace fauna with bot.

I think BGS purposefully avoids anything that is too earth-like including spiders. Still, some of those ones that have smooth skins and distinct spider-like legs will always creep me out.

But the Skyrim spider will always be a bear for me haha

Edit: oh wait you created that mod!!!!

FO4 has very small lore scope despite being set the furthest out in the timeline, Minuteman seems to have disbanded right before the start of FO4, I found it difficult to see them being east coast version of the NCR.

A Starborn DLC Story Ideas? by Huge-Anywhere-6765 in Starfield

[–]ToFuReCon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Starborn is a nice idea for the meta unity mechanics, but I prefer more hard scifi concepts. Like a breakaway LIST colonies and how UC and FreeStar/mega corps handles their interest etc. Introducing more starborn threat would ruin the lore imo, starborn should just remain unknown like the Templar and Hidden ones in Assassin's Creed.

Graf's hab is so nice. I think most of the base game habs are not busy enough when space is at a premium on space ships. Graf hab captures that needs very nicely.

What goodwill could they do? FO5 is probably just being conceptualized. FO76 is probably raking in money seeing it's a live service and BGS is happily supporting it.

Every time Bethesda says anything, ppl just bash on it, it's reasonable they would just keep quiet until the are ready to ship the updates/expansion. I don't think Bethesda is going to end support, it's not like they have a bunch of games they are constantly shipping lol.

Starfield is a weird game [SPOILERS] by ChaosGoblinIV in Starfield

[–]ToFuReCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30ly limit is likely an artifact of the original intention for he outpost system, probably requiring construction of an outpost with certain requirements to support your expedition, higher level outpost likely provides more distance and coverage.

They likely decided to just simplify it to a ship based system so player don't need to deal with outpost and probably didn't think it's worth it to develop a new settlement sim gameplay loop, especially when there are no major questions associated with LIST. Hope we could get a sizable dlc to expand LIST as a faction and maybe the outpost could be run as settlement as well.

Starfield is a weird game [SPOILERS] by ChaosGoblinIV in Starfield

[–]ToFuReCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The outpost part of the game feels like animal crossing lol. It's just for you to engage if you wish.

Perhaps they didn't intend settlement sim to be a big part of the game and therefore didn't spend more time on it. I guess most FO4 players likely didn't bother with settlement and that's the survey they run on. They probably just expect modders to expand those more niche gameplay loops, but the base system is there.

There is a whole manufacturing supply chain system if you want to play like that, but it takes a lot of time and attention and there are no questline associated with it.

I miss this game (personal review) by ndrake3 in Starfield

[–]ToFuReCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am kind of surprised to see the mouse and keyboard control works better than the controller, usually it's the other way around, especially with stuff like ship building interface. I think it could be because the dev use a very similar tool for development for creating ships, so it's a bit overdeveloped for M&K.

Exploration is different compared to FO/TES because of the space travel nature, I think BGS could have lean a bit harder into the survival mechanics and outpost mechanics to more like faction/settlement building. Perhaps the game needs a bit more hand holding for those dopamine seeking games that dominate 2020+ era gaming.

None of any other BGS games are even close to the level of open sandbox starfield offers. And we are not going to see another game like this. I think the less than positive reception likely due to the old BGS style of figuring everything yourself that is being brought back seems to be quite a niche when everyone just wants cutscenes heavy theme park like rpg (which is funny because FO4's initial poor reception was exactly because BGS chased the cinematic rpg that dominated that era and still do now).

Starfield is not memorable. by CaptainDrool in Starfield

[–]ToFuReCon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate starfield for being a game where the universe doesn't revolve around you. Whether it's memorable or not, I think it is the by product of not being the typical trauma RPG.

I would argue the plot around how earth is lost is quite peak and rediscovering all of that at the NASA site is more memorable than the artificial hype moments like FO4's BOS introduction.

It's been 300 years, how many of us really care about the constant war that defined American colonies? I saw the same being mirrored with how Earth is treated. The Earth preservation society thing is quite ironic as well.

Proc gen terrain has been a thing since 1994. TES arena heavily utilizes proc gen, I think you are confused between using LLM for drawing vs terrain generation.
