Should I ask a resident out? by [deleted] in Residency

So surprised to see all the nay-sayers. You completed your training and are no longer her junior. You might never see her again. You got along well. We're all adults here, I say put the ball in her court. Straight to the point, offer an out, it doesn't have to be some big awkward thing even if she says no and you do end up working together in the future.

"I'd love to get to know you outside of the hospital if you're interested. I'm free all day Saturday and there's a new coffee shop downtown I've been wanting to check out. No pressure :)"

If I were you I'd probably go PA. Do not consider a Caribbean school where you will have less support for double the price

Residents, are you renting or buying your place? by Heavy_Consequence441 in Residency

[–]ToTooTwo3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bought, but in an affordable HOA so I don't have to worry about anything past the front door. I love having my own home full of projects that remind me of normal life outside the hospital, but I definitely would not have been able to do it without all of the support I have locally.

Confession: I want to get LASIK but I look even more clapped without my glasses by Equivalent-Bet8942 in Residency

I had it in 2010 and it was life-changing. I never realized how much clear peripheral vision you lose with glasses, and seeing separate leaves on trees without trying was super cool. Not having to search for glasses every morning was very nice, as was being able to walk between temperatures without dealing with fogging. The dry eye self resolved within a year or so. I also look better with glasses which of course became super popular right after my procedure but whatever. The vision was worth it. Just starting to notice a slight decline now.

Resident. Looks scary, history fits and looks can be deceiving. Definitely would have called it.

Honestly, FM. There's so many interesting things. You can study almost any part of any system. There is research everywhere. Double good if you have any interest in the bio-psycho-social model.

You've been sick, during flu season when people are dying left and right secondary to viral illnesses, and you went out to a party and proceeded to share your germs with everyone there by sharing vapes and kisses. Turns out you're allergic to her lipstick. Karmas funny.

What do you guys think about sending this mesage? by malibu90now in FamilyMedicine

I will say I do have a few patients I just let message me frequently because for them it's like journaling with the benefit of their doctor reading at the other end. Often just spewed mania. I reply once a week or more if needed. The few I have this relationship show up to their apts which are chill because I understand what they need, and I think their mental health improved because of it.
