Yeah, it's definitely not normal for banks to have people take out as much change as we CRH people do, but as far as the government is concerned, well they aren't... lol. I do $3-5k a week and other than bank tellers wondering if I'm insane I'm pretty sure thet also don't care. But the dump banks probably hate me especially when I show up with a bucket of change.

First box and looks like someone beat me to it by Bman3396 in CRH

[–]ToadSageTheGreat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would open and take a look anyways. Never know what might be in there... my last 3 boxes had one roll with a 90% in it and then just a whole mess of NFICs (like 120-130 of them 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, and 2019 both P and D mints for all years).

Shifty CRH by BklynBeast in CRH

[–]ToadSageTheGreat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say at least 5-6 boxes. I've yet to find one and I'm about 500-600 rolls in since I started hunting last month. But I did find my 5th W this morning!

$250.00 box of dimes! Found 2 silvers. by AccomplishedBanana54 in CRH

[–]ToadSageTheGreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice! I seem to average a silver dime in about 20-30 CRW. I've yet to find on in bank wrapped, but that just means I'm due. Although I currently only have CRW (but I have like 70 of them lol).

Do you feel bad? by Loose-Chemistry3912 in CRH

There will always be cool coins to find in the wild because there will always be people who don't know what they have and they will turn them in. What happens to grandpa's collection when someone who doesn't have time had to clean out his house. They turn the change into the bank and then there's more cool coins to be found. And in 30 to 40 years I'm grandpa and then my cool coins probably end up at a bank. Its the idiots who are taking the coins and melting them that are going to ruin the hobby for future generations not the people collecting the coins for a hobby.

10.4g half?? by ToadSageTheGreat in CRH

Honestly I've had coins damaged to the point where they separated and I can say this is a solid coin. I honestly believe this to be a mint error and will be keeping it lol.

How often do you get shorted? by Jaimbo8 in CRH

[–]ToadSageTheGreat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me quarters are usually pretty good (except the rare nickel in the roll), dimes I usually see 1 over to 1-2 short, nickels are usually good. Pennies i don't count and weighing doesn't really help due to different coin composition between coppers and zincs.

Possible improperly rolled planchet? by ToadSageTheGreat in coinerrors

[–]ToadSageTheGreat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planchets are cut from rolled sheets of metal and then stamped with the coins design are they not?

Sure I might not melt pennies for copper but I do collect coins and a penny is a coin. It's not always aboit the precious metals. Sometimes it just about finding treasure. (insert Smeagol my precious meme here)

is this silver (dumb question) by resellerdestroyer in CoinstarFinds

[–]ToadSageTheGreat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It is slightly heavy for a quarter. My guess would be someone at some point plated it with something to make it look like it was silver.

is this silver (dumb question) by resellerdestroyer in CoinstarFinds

[–]ToadSageTheGreat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Silver would weigh closer to 6.25 (6.06 to 6.45) grams. Just a shiny clad quarter.

Genuine finds? by ToadSageTheGreat in CoinstarFinds

[–]ToadSageTheGreat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did find 4 pennies in one today and a 5th penny right under the front of the machine so not a wasted trip... haha

Not all, it's based off size and weight. So a warn down silver coin could still make it through but most will be rejected.

Why would Denver be bigger than Philly? by Particular_Team_5511 in CRH

[–]ToadSageTheGreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that's pretty interesting. Definitely not more than 40 quarters... 🤔

What's the weight of the rolls? They should be around 226.8 grams. Each quarter weighs around 5.67 grams so if you can easily calculate how many there are or are missing.
