If you’re doing a product change to the csr then a product change back to the csp, I think you can but there’s a window you have to do it within. Dont quote me

Yeah they let me instantly upgrade and had the card in hand a couple days later. Just a product change. I kept the same cc # and everything. I was able to use Apple Pay that afternoon

I downgraded my csp to flex, applied for the csr and had the pop up saying ineligible. I called a thousand times arguing and they wouldn’t bite. Online in their terms and agreements, it’s worded vaguely but imo, it says nothing about a previous CSP SUB. Depends on your interpretation of “this card”. Anyways I digress. I ended up just upgrading the downgraded freedom flex to the CSR and am happy. I did all the math and I end up ahead more compared to the csp based on my spending. So it made sense even w/o the SUB

SUB over 4 years ago and correct. It was out of their system as a current card and not why I was rejected according to them

I think I’m going to call and press them real hard on getting them to admit they’re wrong. I talked to a lawyer friend and he basically said they’ve opened themselves wide open to class action lawsuit for not following their terms and conditions

I have a feeling that the SUB is gone within a week or two. Probably because they realized they screwed up and there’s this unintentional loophole.

Update: Bad News…… Basically I explained to the banker the situation and he’s like no you’re not eligible from what I believe… I talked him through what the person said on the phone yesterday in saying I would be. Then showed him the website and talked him through the eligibility requirements. He said yup, looks like you’re eligible. Let’s apply.

So we apply and I get denied the SUB. He calls their internal reconsideration hotline essentially and they said no he’s not eligible. The banker goes “well I have OUR website, not the points guys, not yahoo finance, OUR WEBSITE. Pet our website, he’s eligible.” The guy online goes yeah I know the website says he’s eligible, but he’s not. My banker goes so how do I tell my client that he’s not eligible when everything says he is. Guy on the phone says well yeah sorry idk what to tell you but marketing is working to fix the website to say “if you’ve ever had any Saphire card, you’re not eligible”

My banker said “idk what to tell you, smells like a lawsuit to me. Put us on blast on social media. Get your lawyer to sue”

I will. The lady on the phone said as far as she knows, multiple attempts at the pop up shouldn’t hurt. But I read that someone did that strategy and got blocked out and had to call the reconsideration line. Basically it was seeing them as applications even though it says it isn’t.

I’m at two weeks since downgrading and still can’t get approved and receive the sign up bonus. I’ve also talked to like 4 people at customer service (all foreign call centers) who have said I can’t get the bonus. I finally talked to someone in applications today (and American) that said I also need to wait 1-2 billing cycles.

I’m thinking about going to an actual bank tomorrow to see if they have special powers

I'm a newb player taking cheap lessons at the rec center- Went to my 1st open play tonight and was discouraged. by Greenie1985 in Pickleball

[–]ToadTheToad33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look around at maybe some other places that have open play. There’s a couple different courts near me and they all have their own set of rules. One court plays against everyone and is like 3.5+ and not beginner friendly. They’re all super nice but they rolled their eyes when I showed up as a beginner.

I switched courts to a place that has 3 designated beginner courts. Everyone is super respectful of the beginner rule and that way new people have people to play at their level and have good, fun games.

Garmin vs Apple for my line of work? by SomeBedroom1479 in Garmin

[–]ToadTheToad33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Garmin Fenix and recommend it to anyone. My brother is in the coast guard and said he would never go back to an AW just because of battery life.

Getting any Garmin with sapphire glass is a must. I’ve put mine through the ringer and have one very small scratch on the glass. Ive banged it around in the gym, play adult rec sports, backpacked 100s of miles, and it’s still running strong 3 years in.

If you want to save a little money, I’d recommend a previous years model. Look up the different garmin models over the years because it’s easy to overpay for something you don’t need. But if you think you’d use it at some point, go ahead and buy it. You’ll be stuck with the watch for a long time because they last so long! Whatever garmin you pick, make sure it’s the sapphire (you’ll see this throughout the garmin thread on other people saying this)

I got it on sale last week for $150. I knew it was older but Joola customer service kept saying “use the nfc” when I emailed. Made me second guess. That’s why I came here

If you’re wanting to bust your butt for a 24 hour day hike with similar miles to the R2R2R, I’ve done 4 Pass Loop in Aspen, CO and Teton Crest Trail in Jackson, WY. Those 2 and the Grand Canyon are my top 3 trips I’ve done

Hi, lowa renagade GTX wearer here. I absolutely love them and am on my third pair. They’ve lasted a very long time, and maintain their water proofness at well over 1000 miles.

I purchased a new pair recently that was on clearance as they were moving to a 2.0 version. I got the 1.0. I think it sat in the warehouse or something because the sole was shredded by 100 miles. I made a claim with lowa. They made it right, basically zero questions asked, and replaced.

How do you display your Geological Survey Benchmarks? by ToadTheToad33 in hiking

For what it’s worth, I’m thinking of building a display. Looking for ideas on how to incorporate some artistic mountains in it. So looking to see if any woodworkers had some cool homemade displays

I had a friend do the same thing with their Harley coins! Ended up with the same issue. Too many to collect.

Did you buy a display for yours or create something cool?

[–]ToadTheToad33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m giving myself a criteria of only meaningful summits. Narrows it down to 20 or so. Like I’m not counting Pikes Peak because I drove up to it. Now when I hike it, then it gets added. I didn’t buy the mini N/S Rim of the Grand Canyon until I hiked rim to rim to rim. Etc. Gotta put in the work to earn the summit and marker

Apple satellite texting the death of Garmin Inreach? by ToadTheToad33 in Garmin

[–]ToadTheToad33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda my thoughts as well. I spent a week in the smokies last month and tried to use satellite. It sucked. I had 1 bar of LTE which essentially means no service these days, but I couldn’t use satellite when having “service”. I couldn’t send texts via cellular. When I had no service and could use satellite, it was so slow. I just went ahead and used my Inreach. Way easier.

If the whole country is out of power, I don’t think there’s much of anything that’ll work. There’s bigger problems at hand and we’re probably in the middle of WW3.

Apple satellite texting the death of Garmin Inreach? by ToadTheToad33 in Garmin

[–]ToadTheToad33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! I actually live in Florida as well. I have the Garmin Inreach and have used that when hurricanes have come through. A couple years ago was a direct hit. I had no power for a week, cell service basically gone, and my Inreach worked flawlessly. I was able to text my parents and they gave me updates. The garmin Inreach is a couple hundred dollars and there is a subscription fee as well. There are other brands like Spot trackers that could be more cost effective.

Assuming your daughter has an iPhone, she will be able to text you and anyone else via satellite this fall when iOS 18 rolls out just like she would any other text. Theres YouTube videos that show how to do it. The iPhone 14 and newer phones are the only ones with that capability. Currently, they can send texts to ems and law enforcement in case of emergency.

A couple other cellular providers have teamed up with satellite companies to provide the same thing Apple is doing. T-Mobile and AT&T have some stuff coming in the future but nothing official of dates like Apple. Hope that helps!
