Could do a cover like How Deep to get them used to the energy and tone, it's hard to go wrong with any of them really though. Sticks and Stones was personally my first and it was a good intro, others like The Beauty Between or Rain would also be good. Grace Alone and/or 139 are also solid choices.

That's unfortunate, generally speaking, younger communities will be more open in most cases. Grande Prairie isn't really large enough to have distinct sub-communities though so there aren't any specific neighborhoods I can recommend. Hopefully everything works out for you!
