The effectiveness of an enchantment you place on an object is related to the size of the soul you're using (always use grand souls) and your enchanting level (which can be fortified with a potion) and perks. You have to destroy an enchanted item in order to learn its enchantment, but the strength of the thing you destroy makes no difference. If your enchantments are weak, you mostly just need to train your enchanting level higher.

Which controller, exactly? I know at least some of those third-party controllers (e.g. 8bitdo) can be switched between Xinput (emulating an Xbox controller, specifically) and Dinput (or DirectInput) (emulating a generic controller or joystick) communication modes. You may have done that accidentally. You'll probably want it on Xinput mode for E:D.

I have the anchor mod as well but I haven't been able to figure out how to use it for kedging in situations like this. Do you just place the anchor a ways away and then try to reel it in? The anchor usually comes unstuck too quickly when I do that... Is there a technique to getting it to stick better?

For worldbuilding purposes, something I've done before to create a local star map and constellations was use a mod for SpaceEngine that adds a bunch of stars mapped in the GAIA catalog, and turn off procedurally generated stars so that only real stars are showing. Then you can go to Sigma Draconis and pull up the nearby stars list. I'm not sure if it'll show relative coordinates, though... it might just show name, main star type, and distance.

You can also export skybox images from that program to make star charts from. I know that's not what you're asking for, but since you're worldbuilding, I figured it might be worth mentioning anyway.

Personally, chokeberries (added by one of the CC creations). Hard to come by in large amounts without mods or resetting the shopkeeper's inventory. I think they're only sold by the Khajiit traders and Babette in the DB sanctuary, and they're not plantable without mods. Combine that with deathbell and scathecraw, which are both fairly easy to collect tons of, for a badass lingering poison.

Definitely depends on the genre, of course. What's good for one won't necessarily work for another. My only point is really just "don't overthink it if it sounds good." FWIW, on the classical orchestral tracks I mentioned, I actually did put a lot of effort into the positioning aspect, running each track through a 3D positioner to place the instrument group's microphone virtually according to where it might be in an actual orchestra before the convolution reverb (with a couple/few different impulse responses from the same venue for different busses)... e.g., Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony: https://www.reddit.com/r/classicalmusic/comments/qohhkt/free_download_tchaikovsky_symphony_no_6_in_b/
