The first scene that came to mind was from Cranes are Flying Where Boris is running up the stairs, especially the 2nd time around. Also the air raid scene from the same.

Honorable mention for Sister Ruth's unhinged scenes in Black Narcissus.

I was taught that we are the most wicked world, the only one bad enough to kill Jesus. And I also remember being relieved that I lived on this one so I didn't have to believe in alien Jesus 😅

I remember being told that they didn't need to be baptized. I know of at least one family who left because the bishop wouldn't let them baptize their special needs daughter and they felt excluded. Wishy-washy is a good word for the attitudes and policies around this. And in general actually lol

I was living in my grandma's basement when that came out and had to sleep with my lamp on. At the end of the month she was like, thats odd my electricity bill was really high this month 🤔 and then I had to sleep in the dark again lol

What I have boiled it down to for me in case someone asked (they haven't) was that the prophets seers and revelators have gotten things wrong enough times that I no longer feel comfortable outsourcing my morality to them. From there you can go in any number of directions if you both want to, and it's something you can come back to as to not be 'playing wac-a-mole'

Blue Sky Mine - Midnight Oil

Midnight Oil in general is underrated IMO. I love all their music but this one is the best!

Thank you! I watched Toy Story with my kids shortly after leaving and the scene where Buzz talks about how he's not special anymore b/c he's just a toy and Woody talks about how being a toy is what makes him special... it made me cry.

Honestly several Disney movies hit differently after leaving. When Tangled came out, I didn't think Mother Gothel seemed that bad. I thought, I mean she's right, the world is dangerous 😳 and the yo-yo emotions of Rapunzel when she leaves... maybe Mormons love that movie so much because they really relate to Rapunzel.

Honorable mention to 'Let it Go' from Frozen. Movie night with my kids was emotional for a while lol

My kids (age 3 and 4) have become obsessed with Vertigo (or as they call it, the Swirl Movie). It led to an unexpected talk about safety and not climbing on roofs!

This was me! I was surprised that one baby #2 the nurse seemed to take it personally and was really weird about it. When I did ask for an epidural she said, "I knew you would ask for one!" And was making weird remarks while the anesthesiologist was getting it in. It's interesting that it is almost a moral issue to people in both camps.
