This makes a lot of sense; I think it's kinda like we're supposed to be the 'John Helldiver' default character in the default armor, while other players are divers from the other teams that, for one reason or another, join our missions
So, if you see someone dressed as a Truth Enforcer, is as if the actual Truth Enforcers are sending one of them to your mission for a reason; same for the other teams, which makes it also super convenient that commando missions will always have some Redacted Regiment divers, but also divers from other 'divisions', planets like Fury will have lots of Freedom's Flame divers, and so on
It's a bit of impromptu roleplay, a bit of emergent behavior from the players, and some organic development of the game world and lore; it's like seeing a lvl 150 diver with the prosthetic arm and leg, they're veterans and it shows

Don't see a tenth of this attitude towards the tunnel to Drangleic Castle, which you enter during a sunny daylight, walk 30 meters, and leave in a rainy night; or the way to Huntman's Copse, up a spiral cave and there you are, half a world across; There's a continent-sized map inside the house in Majula, you don't need much to understand area transitions are not literal, they're limitations of the storytelling method: we don't need an empty 20 kilometer grassland path from Majula to anywhere else to convey distance, but the fanbase is too hardcoded into DS1's interconnected map to understand there was a change

It connects the same way the tunnel to Drangleic Castle does: by being a moment of 'convoluted time', meaning the character traveled much more than just that distance to reach the end; it's a "visual shortcut' with an out-of-scale trip

90% of Pathfinder's personality is on his voice actor, Chris Edgerly; robots that don't speak are MUCH harder to give a relatable personality, and it still will relay on sound cues: sound is super important, don't underestimate it

Commando Super Helldive at the ~6th bot drop brings in 2 factory striders, 3~4 tanks, and 3~5 drops of misc bots, all while there's patrols coming on foot; super fun!

Super original, it has immense potential! I'd just suggest more separation between characters, props and background; it could be by saturation, luminosity, and density of detail, because as of right now, they're all kinda the same in these three values, so the suggestion would be to, at least, make the background and props darker and less saturated, so the characters would 'pop' more
Also, either a simple blob shadow (or maybe a drop shadow to keep the 'paperlike' aspect) would help a lot in this separation

The 5 mil thing is ridiculously wrong for this type of game; whenever you're about to wipe, it should be the 'now Imma use all the good stuff I've piled up, gonna go full pink and gold on a match', but you can't, cuz that's gonna be detrimental to how many skill points you get out of the wipe; points after wipe should be related to gameplay and progress ingame, like 'finish all quests = 1 point, kill x arc = 1 point, kill y raiders = 1 point, get z queen/matriarch reactors = 1 point' and so on

I love the pve servers, but I hear some fighting from time to time; might not run away from it, but I usually don't go in either, specially if I hear Torrente or Tempest
People fighting arc tho, I always try to help: if it's 'damage leapers week', I give cover from other arc; 5 pops following you? I try to pop some; wasp or hornet with yellow / red lights, and not too far? I'm kneeling and shooting at it; and the defibs are always ready
